My son recommended this place since he’s a local. He was right-it’s good, & worth the wait! Friendly people, very clean, good food & service. My only complaint would be that the onion flavor in my potato, egg, & cheese burrito was stout! I’m talking halitosis from HELL! Lucky for me my hubby ate the same thing, so I’ll still get kisses! LOL I hope we get to try it again someday, so I can try something else from their extensive menu.

Not a good burrito. After many of my coworkers telling me that I should check out El Ranchitos for lunch one day I decided to check it out. First I made sure to check the reviews first as to what to order for a first timer.Since Frek had such a positive experience with his Green Chili Pork Burrito I honed in on this burrito to order for a first timer. As a successful lawyer I have a very short time window for lunch most days as I spend most of my time fighting the Lubbock cops and courts for my Tech student clients about bogus speeding and parking tickets. But yesterday I had about 30 minutes for a sit down lunch. Please understand for me this is a rarity and it felt pretty luxurious to be able to go in and sit down in a place rather than going to the drive thru lane and eating on my way back to the Lubbock County Courthouse. This was my first mistake. Why I trusted Frek to think this place was clean I’ll never know. First off, from the pictures alone off of here and Google I was skeptical, but I gave El Ranchirto the benefit of the doubt. As I walked in I immediately regretted THAT decision. The place was pretty disgusting. Dirty tables, cramp, hot, not very many places to sit, dust on windows, etc. I didn’t say anything, but I had made my mind up then I would not be dining in, I’d ask for it to go.When I walked up I asked for the Green Chili Pork Burrito smothered in queso to go. I was told that I would be charge extra for the queso, I did not read about any charges from Frek on his review, but maybe the burrito was so good he did not mind being charged extra? Plus I have a few fair coins in my pocket so I wasn’t totally annoyed. I said that will be fine and I would like a drink to go with it. I was rung up and waited for my order. The lady asked me if I wanted any chips while I waited and I said sure and though that would be nice. She then said that would be $1.50. I couldn’t tell if she was joking or not, I assumed she was, but I told her nah just forget it, I’m going to have to eat my burrito on the run anyways, don’t want to have hot chips sitting in the car all afternoon.About 10 minutes later I received my burrito, I’m not sure why it took so long seeing how there was only one car in the drive thru window lane, but 10 minutes in all honesty isn’t that bad. I am glad, however, I decided to get my order to go because 10 minutes waiting on food, 10 minutes eating and a 10 minute drive I might have missed my next case! So I grab my burrito and take off to my Hummer before I leave for the courthouse. I find a spot near the courthouse and open up the wrapping to the burrito.SMOTHERED? You call that smothering? I may have gotten a spoonful of queso. I paid extra for that? Hah. Anyways, I take my first bite of the burrito, that also happened to be my last bite of the burrito too. The pork wasn’t cooked well (it tasted funky like it had been brined in pickle juice or something), the green chilis tasted like they hadn’t been cooked at all and the tortilla was stale. It was, in all probability, the worst tasting burrito I’ve ever had. I can’t believe Frek liked this burrito, he must have a very bad pallet. I have an excellent pallet, by the way. I regularly go up to Napa, California and go on wine tasting vacations with my good guy friends and I can taste all the notes and spices in the wine.Anyways, I wrapped the burrito back up and threw it in the trashcan outside by my car. Since I didn’t have enough time I had to go to my next case and was hungry for the next few hours before I got a chance to walk over to Georgios and get a slice of pizza. Now that is a place I will be visiting again.El Ranchito, more like El Rachacrapo.

Holy Christo that was a good burrito!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The bad: place is small. The parking lot sucks. There are potholes. They are not open at night or on Sunday. The good: I ate the green chili pork burrito smothered in queso and it may be the best damn thing I have ever eaten. I am old and have eaten a lot of damn things too. Man it was good. Every bite was pleasure. I am not being paid to write this. I am not related to the owner or anyone who works here. The chips could be a bit less salty and the hot sauce good have bit more fire but who is complaining? I’m not. Did I mention my burrito was good? I will go back. The people are friendly and nice. The restaurant is clean as a whistle. What does that even mean anyway? How clean is a whistle? Please go visit this place. You will not regret it. Just don’t go when I am there because I hate crowds. Thanks.

The other reviews had me thinking this was going to be soooo good! Went and got breakfast burritos and I have to say it was the worst burrito I have had in a long while. Honestly, the 1.50$ burritos you get at stripes are so much better than their 3.50$ burritos. They dot even have homemade tortillas. Won’t be back.

This is a great place! They only have about 6 tables, so you may have to wait or drive thru. The salsa is delicious and so are the meals. Try it!
