Great Steak, Great Value, Great People. I’ve lived in Lubbock for almost 9 years and hadn’t even heard of Gilbert’s until they began catering Tuesday lunches at the office I worked at. When I started looking at places to cater my wedding, they were at the top of my list. I walked into the restaurant for the first time with my fianc and was immediately struck by the laid back atmosphere. We looked at the menu and the prices and my first impression was that this was just cheap, solid comfort food. Boy, was I wrong. I’ve eaten at some of the most expensive steakhouses in the country and I would put Gilbert’s food up against any of them, at about a third of the price! We later tried some of their comfort staples which were solid as well. Matt, The owner was friendly, personable, and when we decided to go with them for both our wedding catering and bar, I always felt like our satisfaction was his top priority. He went above and beyond. My wife wanted lamb, which was not on their menu, so Matt made lamb for our wedding and it was delicious. We received so many compliments from our guests! He served whatever liquor we wanted, whether he generally kept it in stock or not. His wait staff was friendly, professional, and echoed Matt’s own enthusiasm for pleasing his customer. Bottom line, seek out this gem. You will not be disappointed, but you may be surprised.
Gilbert’s Bar & Grill is probably best thought of as a bar and less as a grill. The staff was pleasant however the famous Teriyaki Steak needs improvement. It was very fatty, greasy, and sat in a broth like sauce that made me wonder if it was cooked properly. The mushrooms that accompanied it were fresh and plentiful but undercooked. My wife ordered the Shrimp Brochettes and was overall pleased with the dish. Gilbert’s will not be a repeat place for dinning for us however we have yet to find a decent Chinese restaurant in Lubbock so perhaps we will try on a Saturday evening.
I love steak, I was raised outside of Lubbock outside of ropesville and have loved gilberts steaks ever sence I first had one at kathys cotton patch there are some very good steaks in Lubbock texas and very under rated but when you get a steak at gilberts let it sit 30 seconds then turn it and hmmmm garlic and butter wow DID IN
GREAT FOOD! GREAT SERVICE! GREAT PRICE!. My wife and I have become avid fans of Gilbert’s! Such a cool location and atmosphere. The food is always great and at a great price! I am a frequent customer for their lunch specials.. $6.95 for the food they serve is a steal! I try to make at least 2 Wednesday lunch’s a month.. the Teriyaki Steak is AWESOME! Great place for a social gathering as well on Saturdays for family style Chinese food.. Different than any other place in Lubbock!
Great Food!. I love Gilbert’s! Wednesday’s special of teryiaki steak with a side of vegetables is one of the best meals and values in town. Matt and his crew always do a good job of treating their customers right.
Awesome!!!. I came down to Lubbock to help my daughter move and we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! We drove by on Saturday night and they looked very busy, so we decided to try it out. When we walked in the door we were greeted by the manager who was very pleasant and welcoming. We were unaware that you have to have reservations to eat here on Saturday night, but the manager found us a table and welcomed us to stay and try their 5 course Chinese dinner. Wow, this is by far the best Chinese food that I have ever had and it just kept on coming and coming (I think my daughter will be set for a week with leftovers). This was a great dining experience all around, I am very impressed! Great food and great service!! I will for sure be coming to Gilberts every time I come to visit my daughter from now on. Can you please open one in Houston!
This is the perfect neighborhood restaurant that the entire city can enjoy. The food is always good and served in a friendly environment. It’s easy to does several days a week at Gilbert’s. if you want a delicious meal, a friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere check out our favorite place in town.
