Food was good and the portions where pretty big. We shared one entree between two people and where stuffed. The fish pond is pretty cool as well.

I’ve been here multiple times and it’s pretty fantastic, however the prices are not. They don’t specify how big the different sushi orders are or how many pieces come with so there are sometimes where I’ve paid $13 for small 6 piece orders. I do love their clear soup and their sushi is never bad. Otherwise it is a great place for a romantic like dinner or if you just want sushi.

We’ve eaten here twice and have enjoyed our sushi both times. Apart from the sushi, we have some issues with Hayashi. The first time we sat in the dining room and it was much quieter than the main room. The second time we were seated at a 2-top right next to the koi pond. Sitting next to the koi pond is tantamount to torture if you don’t like children, who swarm around the pond to feed the fish whatever chunks of food they grab off their plates. Throughout the entirety of our meal we had 2-6 children running around our table yelling in excitement whenever a fish ate the food thrown at them, hardly my idea of a relaxing meal. My other major complaint with Hayashi was their refusal to serve me fried rice from the hibachi. If you don’t sit at the hibachi table they bring you some very bland, stale fried rice from the kitchen. I asked our waiter and her manager if I could get an order of fried rice from the hibachi instead of the kitchen and they flat out refused without apology. I have eaten at several sushi/hibachi restaurants in other cities and they have always been happy to bring me the hibachi rice. We were sitting a few feet away from the hibachi tables, I just don’t see how difficult it would be to bring me rice from there, seems to show a lack of care for customer service.

Been here several times. Always had great service, food is fantastic, sashimi is amazing and very fresh, the BMW role is a MUST try. The owner is very nice. The drinks are great too. The Zipang sparkling sake is awesome. I’ll have to try the hibachi soon!

I love it here. Even with the hour or hour and a half wait, the food is so worth it. The salmon and yellowtail here is so fresh it literally melts in your mouth. Hands down one of the best sushi place here in Lubbock. So worth spending the extra money for good food.

Room temperature sushi and hibachi steak/shrimp that came w no rice or shrimp appetizers. No one ever checked on us. We will not be back. $50 would’ve been better spent at Ohanas or Yamagata.

Freezing Inside. A group of us met here for dinner tonight around one of the hibachi grills but the room was so cold that I couldn’t enjoy my food or my evening. We spoke to the manager but the heat never came on and he did nothing.
