Not worth going. Place still has smoking, great way to turn off 80% of the population who doesnt smoke. Peel and eat shrimp are a joke as they dont cut the back before cooking and you have to de-vein yourself before eating ( gross and alot of work for a $20 pound.) Also the oysters arent seperated from the shell so you also get to pry them out with your fork and ruin the oyster meat. Dont go here….

Fun bar at times but BEWARE!. The obar has nice people working there. I have never liked the food, however please be careful when you are there. I had my car window bashed in because I had a makeup bag in the front seat. I have tried to contact the manager but the phone number on file is not in service. I will not be returning because it is not worth it.

Great Place For After-5 Drinks. If you’re looking for nice, easy-going people, strong & cheap drinks, good bar food, or the BEST Bloody Mary in town, then the O-Bar is for you. You can always depend on a laid-back atmosphere combined with bartenders who understand that fast drunks tip better, leaving you with good conversation and drinks that kick like a mule. They’re not trying to win any awards for most beautiful, or create the fanciest drinks in town, and the restrooms can be downright dangerous to use at times (after a few drinks I mean), but it’s got a welcoming, down-home feel to it the second you walk in the place. For smokers who run out halfway through their 4th or 12th drink, they’ve got you covered for a price only slightly higher than the norm. The fried mushrooms are not the white button mushrooms you may have come to expect from other bars, nooooo sirree, we’re talkin’ about an enormous basket filled with giant caps and stems served with your choice from a decent array of sauces.I’ve never had the oysters but they look terrific. They also have a full menu if you’re needing more than just a snack. I hear the sandwiches are amazing. It seems like they have about 20 big flat-screens on the walls, as well. It’s usually jam-packed after dusk on the weekends so if you’re traveling with a crowd I suggest you get there early enough to secure a few seats. It’s always busier and sometimes impossible when school is in session. Parking is another great reason to get there early because you can forget about it after about 10PM.All-in-all the O-Bar is my choice for any after-5 o’clock drinks and snacks, over any other place in the area.

Again, after at least 17 years. We went to the original Lone Star Oyster Bar on 34th for dinner around 5pm on a Sunday. This was my first visit in almost 2 decades despite dining the immediate area often.Menu is much better than what it used to be, service was great for a bar/pub, and the food was surprisingly very good. The chicken-fried-chicken was tender and breaded properly and the mashed potatoes and salad as sides were great. My wife had the Swamp Cat (catfish) and all was very good. I can’t wait to give their chicken-fried steak a try next. (I don’t eat oysters or much seafood. By the way, they were out of oysters when we visited!)We’ll start returning to this old haunt often. Good pub grub, low drink prices, and you can smoke a cigar. Non-smokers stay away, we don’t want you there.

Saturday Special!!. Service is routinely horrible and it takes forever to get waited on BUT the 34th St location of the O Bar has a special every single Saturday that makes it worth it — half price raw oysters!!! EVERY SATURDAY!! In my teens and early twenties, I was a waitress so I understand about being busy etc. but I’ve only found one waitress who has been good here, and she was awesome (i think her name is brandy but i could be completely wrong). All of the others tend to have attitudes and are SLOOOOOOOOW to wait on you and SLOOOOOOOOW to check back on you. The ONLY reason I put up with it is to satisfy my cravings for raw oysters and horseradish every month.UPDATE! Wait staff have gotten friendlier! Brittney was fantastic this past saturday (04/30/11) and said she works every Saturday. Be sure to go in and ask for her if there is more than one person waiting tables … she is friendly and attentive! As always, you can’t go wrong with the raw oysters, fried zucchini sticks, hot shrimp, and crawfish (with potatoes and onions).
