Great food. I like the variety of options and the fact that it is buffet style.. really worth the money if you are super hungry.
I’m in love. With the pork belly. Imagine bacon, pulled pork, and chicharones. Try the rotating item buffet from the cutest, hardest working Filipino grandma in town. She is an amazing cook and very friendly if your not an impatient grouch like in the other review 😉 Give her a break, Its a one woman show!
Went into cafe and seated ourselves, later was approached and advised that the cafe was closed . This was about noon and others were present , finally learned that they were have a private party. Was told they would open to the public mid afternoon . Probably last visit to the Manila Cafe …
Good Stuff. I think Chinese food is alty, this is food from the Phillipenes though. Try this, its not the same. They make better tasting white rice here, it is flavorful, fluffy and somehow inspired. I like to get their Chicken Adobo, its better than but sort of simalar to Terriyaki Sauce, they dont make it everyday so I call and ask about it. I also like their thin eggrolls, they call them Lumpia. Adobo, and Lumpia are 2 reccomendations from me to you.
Strange. We walked in there, probably about 10:30, maybe closer to lunch. The owner (we assume) was behind the counter and didn’t say much. We asked for menus and she pointed at the food display that didn’t have but maybe one or two things to offer. We looked at the food. There was nothing really there. We thanked her and walked out. I felt bad, but she didn’t have any food to offer. Maybe she had a rush before we walked in. There was no one around. Not a soul. Stange.
Well worth a try. Some people will love it and some will hate it. The buffet changes most days but it you get there just after 12pm she usually brings out freshly fried egg rolls or shrimp. I’ve eaten there many times and hygiene is not an issue. This is a small place catering for the Filipino community in Lubbock and as such is not meant to be pandering to American tastes. The buffet is a great way to sample many different things without risking all-or-nothing on the menu, and is very cheap considering the range of food she usually puts out. If you get the water from the cooler then you’ll save a lot as she charges a lot for a soda, although there are many other interesting drinks to try. Be warned, though, she is one person so the dishes and opening times can vary depending on her mood.
LOVE IT!!!! I cannot write enough about how great this Filipino food tastes!!! The nice lady who owns the resturant is an excellent cook! I really recommend the egg rolls and the sweet sausage. Wow they are sooooo good! I couldn’t quit eating them!!! I really like the way this place is off the beaten path and has regulars that the owner knows by name! That is becoming more and more rare in Lubbock. I know that she will remember me– because it’s just that kind of place! I don’t care what anyone else says about this resturant, I will eat here again and again! Visit and join the experience!
