I would give it a 0 but can’t.. This is NOT even close to Mexican food.. I expected more since this place is in Texas.. If pacing through Lubbock find somewhere else to have Mexican food.
I have been eating at Montelongo’s since 1972, when I was in a a Texas Tech poetry club that ate Saturday breakfasts there to discuss poetry. I have been eating there ever since. I ate there last Friday and my wife was so jealous she made me take her there the next day! Truly sublime in its simplicity, just some common ingredients coming together in some very comforting and tasty ways. I am addicted to the lethally hot salsa served with the thickest chips I’ve ever had, and to which I am addicted. I’ve eaten a bagful on the way home before. Crap. now I have made myself hungry! lol
Had it on good authority that this was the best Mexican food in Lubbock. I have to say I was a little disappointed tho. It’s not only a little pricey for what you get, it also wasn’t as good as its reputation leads on. Might give it another try in the future tho.

I ate here for the first time in 2 years. I realize the price of everything has gone up but come on…nearly $9 for the #1??? And yes I’m a Christian but do away with all the pics of the virgin Mary. She is dead like every human that has died except for her son Jesus. Worship Jesus not Mary!!!
Mom n pop Mexican places are usually the best. You may sacrifice service but food is usually good and price is usually on the lower side. NOT THIS PLACE!! You order off a black board with no descriptions, sit and wait for food to be brought out. The order taker/cashiers are not pleasant and the girls that run food and beverages to your table are on the verge of obnoxious. The food is over priced and nothing special. Taste very much like Rosa’s. We waited 30 minutes for tacos and chicken fajitas. After several people who arrived after us were served we asked what the hold up was and apparently the chicken fajitas are made fresh. Well it should never take 30 minutes. I’d rather have Chuy’s for the price and a single attentive service plus corporate consistency
What Just Happened…… I just paid $5.25 for a Sausage, Egg and cheese burrito…..is this real life????? the should be ashamed of themselves…Idk if the cashier made a mistake but that’s outrageous……
