On the Border is my favorite place to go! Great Margaritas and I have never ordered anything that was bad. My husband and I usually share the ultimate fajita and it is very good! More than enough food for 2 people. I have had enchiladas, briscuit tacos, ultimate sampler, fresco chicken and I can’t think of what else but all excellent! Wait staff have also always been very friendly. I saw these negative reviews and I had to put my opinion because it’s so different! My experiences have been over the past 7-8 years.

Elbow was stuck. After bragging to our friend what a good place this was to eat, we took her there. Oh! How ashamed we were. Everything on our plates was over salted. Did the cook get a cramp in his elbow? Everyone knows that a chef must taste the food before playing it. The manager was nice and offered to give us our dinner, but my husband, being embarrassed, said he would pay. If it had been me, I wouldn’t have. The food was disgusting, and I wanted to throw up in my plate. We used to be repeat customers, but never again.

My relationship with OTB is complicated. In my experience, the quality is wildly inconsistent. The first time I ate there with my mom, the food was amazing. I craved the pepper jack chicken enchilada so badly afterward that I ordered it to go a few weeks later. However, that time was a huge disappointment. There was way too much sauce, the vegetables were in such giant chunks I had to pull them out, and there wasn’t as much chicken. They were also out of refried beans, which is kind of unfortunate for a Mexican restaurant. We went back again recently and this time I ordered the chicken salsa fresca. It was great until the last quarter of the chicken, which was so fatty and tough I couldn’t eat it at all. Eating at OTB is a roulette. When it’s good, it’s very good. But you never know what you’re going to get.

By far the worst customer service I have received, I have lived in lubbock most of my life and this was the 2nd time I’ve ate here, my fiance’s first time. We were both very disappointed….the food was great but our waitress took forever! We both ordered out drinks and waited about 10 minutes for them to arrive to our table, we received our dinner and by that time needed another refill. It them took her about 10-12 minutes to bring our refills back to us. By that point I very very irritated. Like I said the food was good but because of the customer service we received we will not be eating there again.

So confused.. While OTB has been on the decline for a while now, I was surprised how low it had fallen. We waited twenty minutes for our food (my husband and I). While that isn’t completely outrageous, it is when you are virtually the only people there. My chimichanga was to have a ranchera sauce. They gave me enchilada sauce, cold, in a small cup on the side. The service was odd, as if no one really wanted to be there. I think our waiter wanted to help but was not sure how to go about it. Poor guy. And what’s up with the lighting? I almost needed sunglasses. That is the brightest lighting I’ve ever noticed in a restaurant. Usually, I’ll go when everyone else in my family demands it, but no more. I won’t be back.
