We went to the one at 66th and Milwaukee. My friend Kergan who lives in Houston has been telling me I need to go check this place out. He even went as far as sending me a gift certificate for Christmas! I don’t have many friends but the few I have are dang good ones. My college daughter was in town and she had been to the one in Arlington and was all for a lunch with dad at the new one on Milwaukee and about 66th. Got there around 1pm. There were some people in line but not too busy. Nice lay out but not too big. Kergan always gets The Wreck so in his honor that is what I ordered. He also told me to add the hot peppers which I did. My daughter ordered a pizza sandwich without any cheese. WTH? How can you have a pizza anything without cheese. I asked the guys in the line if anyone had ever in this history of Potbellys ordered a pizza sammie without cheese and they replied not to their knowledge. But dad I will save 100 calories this way she says to me. Ok. Why not just quit eating all together and see how many calories you save? eyerollSo you place your order and then they send your sammie through this conveyor thing that goes into a toaster type oven thingie. No microwave. This produces a warm melted sandwich with a nice bun that is not too soft and not too hard. Kind of like baby bear’s bed in Goldilocks story. Daughter wanted a bowl of soup but they had run out which was a disappointment because I would have liked to sample it. So we go down the line to check out and this older gentleman tells us our total and I hand him a printed gift certificate that I printed from an email my buddy sent me. Guy looks at it and says what is this? I say it is a gift certificate. He then says where did you get this thing? I said my buddy sent it to me for Christmas. He says I don’t even know what this is. So he leaves there and goes to talk to other workers and get their input on what to do. Eventually he asks this one younger guy who was in line and maybe the owner or manager and he says just ring it up like you would a debit card or something. Then a young girl who seemed knowledgeable came and helped him ring it up. I really thought this was strange because as you walk into the place there is a big sign saying you can go online and enter to win a gift certificate. Luckily they were not too busy and we didn’t hold up too many people while all this got straightened out. No biggie. Daughter liked her pizza sandwich with no cheese. I really enjoyed my Wreck sandwich and the peppers were a nice touch. Overall I was very pleased with this place and I put it up there with Firehouse as being a top sandwich place in Dirt City Texas USA. aka Lubbock. This is an official Frekview. Thanks God for all the snow…not. Good luck Texas Tech Red Raiders in Basketball. Beat ISU and KU this week. God Bless everyone especially Kergy for giving me the gift certificate!
Excellent Everything. I’ve been here 3 times now and am very impressed. The sandwiches are stuffed with good quality ingredients. The cookies and shakes are really good. The service is very fast and friendly. My wife and friends were happy as well. Overall a good alternative to Jimmy John’s and many steps up from Subway. I will definitely be back.
Glad it’s here. I’d only had Potbelly once in the Baltimore airport and was pleased to see it opening in Lubbock. We went just prior to the lunch rush and I’m glad we beat the line out the door. I thought my sandwich tasted great, it wasn’t huge but it was good for lunch. My girlfriend really enjoyed her salad as well. More importantly, the staff was patient with her feeling overwhelmed with making decisions while not being familiar with their ordering process.
Just okay. This place isn’t bad, but it’s not anything special.
