Brisket, Moist. Excellent!
Not bad. I tend to want to support local BBQ places, but the selection in Lubbock isn’t so hot. Wiley’s is pretty good. Eddie’s was pretty terrible when I went, SO tough and essentially not edible, and Dave n Don’s is never open, plus their website domain expired so I’m not even sure they’re still in business.I grew up on Rudy’s in San Antonio, I realize it’s definitely not the best, but it’s the BBQ place I frequent most in Lubbock. Their moist brisket is almost always on point, ribs are okay, and I personally love their chicken and turkey. I recently tried the pulled pork, it’s a little vinegary/mustardy for my tastes, I’d rather taste the meat, but if you like that style, go for it. All the cold sides are disgusting – don’t even think about it. The only sides worth getting are the pinto beans, and maybe sometimes the creamed corn. If you need to satisfy a craving for BBQ, I think Rudy’s is your best bet in Lubbock.
Eat at your own risk. My family of 4 ate here on our way back into town from austin. we ate the sliced & chopped beef, macaroni, potato salad, and creamed corn. tasted as good as it always has, which is above average. everyone chowed down, except my daughter, who wasn’t hungry and wouldn’t even try a bite. lucky her. the next three days comprised of endless trips to the bathroom for me, wife, and son. both ends. daughter was fine, though. will never eat there again.
I like it but slightly cold since its not on a plate. Great food, but it sometimes is a little cold because it isn’t on a plate. the prime rib was so incredibly good, but it was really cold. still good enough to devour in seconds.
Wanted to try the ribs. Not impressed. Had a turkey sandwich, a 1/2 lb of ribs and beans and potato salad. Beans not great, potato salad good. Everything is sold separately. Very expensive in comparison to other barbecues places in town. Once was enough for me.
Mediocre at best. NO! Don’t eat here! Support one of our local BBQ joints. Eddies, Dave n Don’s, Wiley’s and J and M all serve better BBQ than this inconsistent mega chain!
DRY BEEF. Thank goodness for the sauce. I usually order the sliced beef. They must trim all the fat from thier beef before smoking. It is always so dry that you have to use an abundance of sauce to get moisture. Might as well order a sauce sandwich.
