Everything about this place is great. The food is excellent, the staff are fun and attentive, and the atmosphere is really welcoming. I haven’t been to their sushi bar, but literally everything on their regular menu is fantastic.UPDATE: I have changed my rating from 5.0 to 3.0 since the recent change in management at this place. We have been back three times and the food just doesnt taste the same. So sad to be craving food that no longer exists! Not to mention the staff isnt fun or friendly now. Not worth the price anymore
In town and ended up wanting to find a place for an unexpected celebration. Reviews looked good so we tried it. Steak was fabulous. Shrimp was very good. Others liked the chicken. Egg rolls were very, very good. Not expensive compared to other similar restaurants. Food just as good or better.
Paid for extra meal. I would give 5 stars except for the silly little $2 charge for fried rice… for a family of 4 that adds up to the cost of feeding another person. O’Hana does not up charge for fried rice, its included…the food here is good, and the sushi, just not a fan of the hidden cost
TERRIBLE SASHIMI. Met a few friends for lunch having never tried the sushi or sashimi. After checking the menu I decided on a sashimi sampler that appeared to be priced around sixteen dollars… seemed too good to be true more on that later. The plate came out and I was impressed with the presentation and how quickly the food arrived. After one bite of my fatty tuna I realized the gravity of the mistake I just made. It not only tasted like a fishy wet dog it was FROZEN on the inside! Not one to judge I moved on to the yellowfin which tasted the exact same and was also frozen on the inside. The salmon had a slightly different taste, more reminiscent of the smell of stagnant pond water but with a hint of the same flavor that the tuna had. I have had sashimi from many different places, even grocery store offerings run circles around this place! When I asked my server if I could switch to a hibachi plate she informed me she would have to ask the manager. The manager was incredibly rude and basically told me she wasn’t going to do anything about it and offered to ‘warm it up for me’ which I assume meant microwave. I was given a five dollar discount after throwing the plate away, was offered no other menu choice and was hit with a thirty dollar check. They actually had the audacity to charge me for the dinner portion at lunch time after I sent the plate back uneaten. The two friends I had with me each tried a bite of the tuna and one said the taste alone almost made him throw up. Don’t go to Shogun for anything fish related, you would save a lot of money and get the same experience by drinking some of the rank water in the drainage pond by Mackenzie park.
Shoguns Lubbock-<3. My fiance and I were looking for a sushi restaurant to go to for our anniversery. All the other places we looked at around lubbock had trouble reviews on customer service and when I looked at this one it had a few bad ones but we decided to go for it. I have to say it beyond exeeded my expectations. Our waitor was fantastic. He was constantly checking on us and making sure we didnt need anything. And the food was fantastic. I got the Crazy Girl roll and other than the size of it it tasted amazing. Overall, we had a great experience and will be coming back.

Two thumbs up14 Apr, 2013Just would like to say we ate at Shoguns last night and the good was excellent our waitress was the best she made us feel very much at home nice huh.just like to add we found that we also enjoyed the view everyone of their waitresses are in excellent shape from the youngest to the oldest I give this Japanese steakhouse 5stars would give more but star system only goes to five
After remodeling shogun looks really nice and clean. The chefs are funny and service is good. I enjoyed my time eating there. The price is still cheap comparing to other hibachi restuarant in lubbock. The shrimp and scallop are big. I love the salad dressing.
