I went with 5 ladies. I ordered a chicken in a specialty salad. The dressing that was a vinaigrette was gelatinous. The bread they brought out was hard. Let’s see….oh Gawd, the waiter didn’t care or high. The chicken was petrified. Horrible!

You know what? I met the big, bad, Billy Rizzo a couple of times before ever stepping foot into Stella’s. He’s kinda why I have lived in Lubbock for 4 years & NOT visited his place. I caved last week. I came, I saw, I ate a good meal and it kinda makes me mad because I wanted so much to not like anything about the place. We had great service at lunchtime. Drinks always filled & the warm bread & butter basket was delicious. My hubby & I are not shy about ordering a full meal at lunch. Calamari to start…its a good way to try marinara sauce before committing to it on your entree! Not bad. Calamari could have been cooked a bit longer, but ok. I decided on a penne vodka dish off their lunch menu & hubster got the chicken parm. We kept it safe, just in case. While we waited for our food, I watched other people’s plate come out….the plating looks good. Dare I hope? Caesar salads were presented with nice, crisp romaine. I HATE getting a half-a**ed salad with wilted, brown pieces! Didn’t have that problem here. My entree was nice, actually. Hubster’s chicken parm was a large portion, of wait for it….REAL chicken! That’s a real piece of chicken & not some pre-ordered patty something! Ended things with a nice creme brulee & went hope disappointed to not be disappointed. We will be back to try something a little more daring off the menu! Doesn’t matter if you like the guy or not, he knows what he’s doing at Stella’s.

This place was one of my favorites for many years, but my past few experiences have not been the greatest. Not very allergen friendly. They seem to have no idea what they are cooking. The last two servers we had were terrible and acted annoyed with any question we asked. The food was not as good the last few visits either. Usually they have some of the best seafood in town, but not lately.

Stella’s Lubbock, TX. Mother’s Day Disappointment. I had been looking forward to taking my wife, daughter and grandchildren to this upscale Lubbock eatery on Mother’s Day. It must be good because it took a half hour to seat us even though we hadv reservations. I splurged and ordered the lobster tails for $43.00. I was disappointed. The lobster was so tough I couldn’t cut it with a knife. And bland and tasteless. And I had to ask twicebbeforevthe waitress brought the drawn butter.I told my family I had eaten twice at Stella’s my first and my last time.

Too many bad experiences. Will not return.. I have eaten here several times over the years. Always a hit or miss. Last two times major disappointment. Tonight the service was okay. Server not warm or welcoming. Restaurant smelled like gas from fireplace giving me and fiance headaches by the end of dinner. Calamari was over done and half inedible. Literally like uncooked pasta. Told server but still on my bill and no manager came to apologize. Both entrees were very oily and smothered in sauce. Mine had huge chunks of raw garlic and way too thick ravioli. Bread served reheated and so hard a duck wouldn’t eat it. Lastly, bathroom had zero soap and an empty roll of paper towel on the calcium/lime covered counter. This place is going down hill unless you want to drink and have a slice of pizza in the lounge.

Good re-experience. We haven’t been here in a long time so we went there for a late lunch yesterday. I started out with a Caesar’s salad the waiter even got me some anchovies which is unusual for a Lubbock restaurant. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs which she liked very much almost as much is what we make at home. I had a small ribeye off of the brunch menu. No problem with either meal. The wine list was okay but not that good so we did not have any wine with our meal. We had good service and a quiet atmosphere for us to enjoy our meal. We will come back again.
