Disappointed. Food was okay, but the service was terrible. Like many of the other posts have indicated, the older man at the restaurant has terrible people skills. I will not be returning. Need Thai food in Lubbock? Head over to Bangkok instead…
Typically, this place has really good food. If you’re looking for a place with great food and good customer service that supports higher prices, then look elsewhere. Time and time again, I’ve tried this place thinking it would improve but it never has. Truthfully, their are better Thai places in town.
Money better spent elsewhere. This was a disappointment, compared to our normal Thai stop. I asked to swap rice for extra vegetables, expecting to still be able to make it a meal. They left off the rice… but that also left about 3/4 of the take out box empty. When I called them to address this, he assured me that they definitely put extra vegetables, just very few. I spent $8 on a meal the size of an appetizer. While we are discussing money, this was pricier than any of the other Thai places in town, ESPECIALLY considering how much food you get in each entree. Long story short, you’re better off going somewhere else. Same, if not lower, rice, and double the amount of food. What a let down this place was. Head to Bangkok instead.
Kai Kra Plaow #40. As much as I like the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup on cold/rainy days, I love the Kai Kra Plaow! … #40! So good! So spicy. One of my favorite eats in Lubbock.
A little on the pricey side than what I’m used to for Thai, but worth every penny. You enter into a real homey feel, with fresh cut flowers on the tables. Service was prompt and the portions were just right. Satisfied, but not overly stuffed. Will definitely be back on occasion.
Great Food at a Great Price…who cares about the rest.. Look, if you want ambiance or hand-and-foot service go to some hoity-toity, overpriced, facade like Stella’s or Manna and eat your mediocre food while some underpaid server jumps through hoops for the few meager bucks you’ll leave. I could care less whether the owner of Thai Thai bows and scrapes when I come through the door, because the food is great. In my opinion, the people who complaining about portion size probably eat too much at a single sitting. I found that the portions allowed me to finish the dish while being satisfied…and let’s just say I’m not exactly a stick figure. I’ll grant you that it does matter what you order here, but if you order the right dish it is absolutely sublime. On my most recent trip, I ordered a Thai tea, the #37 Gang Kiew Wan, and the Sticky Rice w/ Mango for desert. The dark almost orange colored Tea was delightfully refreshing and served over ample crushed ice with an evident swirling contrast of half and half. The Gang Kiew Wan was an explosion of sweet, spicy, salty (not too salty) flavor with a rich thick broth packed with very fresh ingredients. I wasn’t going to order the dessert dish, until I spotted the bowl full of big, perfectly ripened mangos. The cool mango was beautifully plated beside the nicely-shaped, warm hunk of coconut-milk coated sticky rice, and the taste was even better. The next day, I ordered the exact same meal at Bangkok Thai, and I was utterly disappointed. Even the fried noodles and sweet-tangy sauce were better at Thai Thai, the sauce at Bangkok was little more than pure corn syrup. The Thai tea was luke warm with a few scant cubes of ice. The broth in the soup was flavorful but watery, and the sticky rice w/ mango was far less artfully plated and less flavorful. Thai Thai was WAY better than Bangkok IMO.Cheers!
They re homed a Mc Dung pile and made a food establishment thank you! Interesting interior. But fits the purpose. You place your order from a wall of pictures and the person was quick and friendly. You then gather a bowl of fried chips and sauces for dipping. The orange sweet was addictive. But before I could get a few of these down my food appeared much faster than I expected. I got putt Thai. It was very good. All the sprouts and cabbage were cooked correctly still keeping a bit of crisp. Noodles were traditional and sauce was great. Just the right amount of sauce. Not slathered to hide incompetence. The shrimp were of nice size and deveined to keep the flavor clean. Really enjoyed my meal.
