I was invited to join a younger buddy at noon on a Saturday. The restaurant is easy to get to and has nice parking. I got confused which isnt unusual for me, and entered into a wrong door into an empty construction area. Geeze Louise. Once in the right door, I see my buddy whom I hadnt seen since last football season at his tailgate. I will call him Kevin to protect his identity. The interior is nice, but not so nice it make you feel uncomfortable. We were immediately met by an older lady who turned out to be a very capable waitress. I should have tipped her more. Kevin suggested we start with a Pretzel and I opted for the All-day breakfast for $10. Kevin chose the Fried Ham Sammie. If I go again, I will probably get that or a Bison Burger. The burgers are lb for $14. I am not a huge beer person, and I knew that Kevin is, so I asked him to choose a beer for me to drink. He chose a Fleur de Wheat which turned out to be pretty dang good. I only drank one, but could have easily drank a few more if I wasnt driving. The pretzel came and it was pretty amazing. It was $7 which is kind of high, but they give you Shiner bock Mustard and Blanco Queso to dip it into. Blanco Queso wins. After hearing a few stories from Kevin, our entrees came. I had asked for sunny side up eggs and received one egg and the yoke was overcooked and not runny at all. The Texas Toast was burned but not too bad. The egg was draped over grits with sausage. The sausage was pretty good and the dish could have used a little more sausage and a little less grits. Overall I was not that impressed with this dish. I have had better at Cast Iron Grill and Cracker Barrel. Kevins Fried Ham sandwich looked legit. We sat at a table and right behind Kevin was a booth with two fit middle aged pretty females. The reason I mention this is because I now wonder if they heard some of the stories Kevin told me. He has better stories than probably anyone I have ever met face to face. These are stories about brothels in Germany and Amsterdam or personal female servants he had in Malaysia. Also his consumption of psychedelic mushrooms and other mind altering substances. If Kevin ever wrote a book, I would read it. He would also be good if he ever decided to do a podcast. Overall I had a really good time. This was due mostly to whom I was with more so than what I was eating. After all it was lunch and I rarely eat lunch and $26 is a bit steep for my wallet. Hell, I can eat dinner at Annas twice for that amount and get hugs! This is an official frekview. God bless dirt city. God bless the Texas Tech baseball team who are keeping me entertained and my father alive.

Great food, I’ve always loved the food and atmosphere here. Unfortunately this current visit is not going as well. With dozens of people waiting it appears as though the owner is bringing his entire family in, past his regular customers who’ve been waiting for well over an hour. I think this…

Enjoyed finding this spot to relax during a long drive. Lively place on a Friday night. TV’s all around if you like that. Great selection of beers and wide variety of interesting menu choices. Something for kids as well as adults. I got a winter squash and farro risotto with roasted chicken and brown butter, very good. My only issue was that it was all by itself on the plate, it seemed like it needed a side salad or something. Kids got pizza and grilled cheese and fries, both good. Service was a bit slow but the prices were very reasonable. All in all a good experience.

Don’t even get me started on how fabulous the beers and cocktails are! Oh my goodness you can’t top them! And I love how they change up with the seasons! Genius!!!! You cannot order anything that isn’t delicious here. I hate grits normally but they make grits incredible, best flavor ever! The pot pie was to die for, the pizzas are perfect! LOVE this place!

Honestly, when they first opened their doors, the food was amazing! Just yesterday, hoping to sit down to a delightful lunch, I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie. What I got was the following: hard, solid block of potatoe mixture that tasted like it came out of a box, sitting massively on top of mainly gravy with two huge chunks of some kind of meat, 2-3 carrots, which were all swimming around in a butload of salty, brown McCormick tasting gravy. I was so disappointed. I had talked my best friend into going with me; I told her it was an amazing place, and I was certain she would fall in love with it. I was wrong, and I felt so bad for bringing her to it. The bartender at one point in our meal rolled her eyes at us. I felt so uncomfortable after that. It was just a major let down—the place I once knew to be a uniquely creative place that offered delicious food has gone downhill–a lot. No more unique, not more delicious. So sad 🙁 I should have known not to come back when one day I ordered a salad (which I thought, by the description, would have some lettuce). This salad was served lukewarm, with some salty and starchy vegetable that tasted more like potatoes that were grease fried in a salty stew of water and oil. The salad was supposed to come with chevre, but they forgot to add that ( I was looking forward to this more than the salad). It was a let down, to say the least. I managed to chew my way through the hot mess and spent the rest of the day feeling a little nauseous, thinking throughout my day about the chunks of hot mess I consumed. Okay, I’ll stop now—-I’m just so sad that the local restaurant I once loved has gone downhill so much.

Our meals are usually pretty good, but it always takes more than ten minutes for anyone to come to our table to greet us, which is a huge restaurant industry no-no. On one occasion it took so long we left. I love the menu selection and my husband really enjoys the beverage menu. Improvements in wait staff would make this place wildly successful.
