Food is almost always great. Service used to be as well, but lately the wait time to get your food is awful. 30 minutes for one taco?!? That’s a little ridiculous.
Torchy’s Taco’s is a great place to have a meal. They always have a taco of the month that changes, you guessed it, monthly. Even if you’ve had everything on the menu you can always count on something new to try. I love The Independent taco, which is made with a couple of big strips of fried portabella mushrooms, refried black beans, roasted corn, avocado, cheese and carrots. I usually leave off the carrots because they are little spicy for me. The queso is pretty tasty and is great for sharing. I like that they serve Main Root sodas. It’s one of the few places that do and its the only soda I will drink. They are made with organic pure cane sugar and come in a variety of flavors. I definitely recommend stopping by and ordering a taco or two. They can get busy for lunch since it’s near Tech so plan accordingly. goodnomadventures.com
I love Torchy’s, but not for their tacos. Any time I’ve had their tacos they have come out cold. I love their queso, chips are hit or miss, but the green chile queso is delicious. I like coming here at an off hour (it gets really busy at lunch and dinner) and having margs and queso.
First time going to torchys and the whole experience was amazing. We were kind of weary at first because of the review. But everything from the service to the food was beyond amazing. Chips and queso are on point. Tacos are really damn good. Its my new favorite place and my husband and my self will be going there often!
Like a subpar Fuzzy’s. So I had to go, everybody was saying how great Torchy’s was and who was I to doubt people…well, thanks for nothin’ folks. I had The Independent and Baha Shrimp tacos, can’t recall what my hubby had. Both were overseasoned (SALTY, and I’m a diehard salt lover) and my order wasn’t right (had ordered without avocado). So, in the end, a decent margarita is NOT worth the trip to, the wait at, or the prices at Torchy’s.
Lubbock/tech employees. Torchy’s has good food, just don’t expect it to be prepared right. The employees are creepy or completely unaware of their surroundings. Seems to be an epidemic in Lubbock; good restaurant comes in > is fine for 3 months or so > quality of food prep/service dips > restaurant leaves.
