You have to look pretty hard to find good food in Marshall. This was some good down home cooking with decent portions. I got the chicken fried steak with purple hull peas and broccoli and rice casserole. It was all good and will definitely return. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Worth the visit!. If you are looking for home cooking at it’s best, this is the place to go in Marshall. There are few options in town for real home cooking but this is by far my favorite. They offer a great variety of main dishes and the main courses change daily. Chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak and chicken, braised BBQ boneless ribs, broccoli chicken and rice casserole, chicken and dressing… and the list goes on. Their side dishes are great also and cooked just like grandma made it! The only negative thing I can say is that it is a little too pricey. Just a lunch with a main dish, 2 sides, and a roll will cost almost 10.00 and that’s not including a drink or dessert. Add those in and you will spend about 15.00 which is a little much for a lunch. Their homemade pies are amazing though and their rolls are fresh yeast bread. Overall, I would say the Dinner Bell is definitely worth the visit but be ready with the pocket book.
