Chef is great staff needs retraining. The chef is super professional and visited the table to make sure that we were pleased with our meal -we were, but staff is a bit of a mess. Our checks were a mess and they served our wine choice to others at our table. I am all about sharing, but my friend had ordered her own choice of wine. It isn’t like tea, you don’t go around the table refilling glasses.

Hit and miss. Large party visited. Food quality is a excellent. Everything else about the visit was far below sub-par. It was a Saturday night too. Poor service. Food was taken away when a patron went to the restroom. Individuals ordered bottles of wine and waitresses shared with the entire table. Took WAY to long to get food. Although desert was offered to subside, we had been there for over 2 hours already. This was not a good day for this place. Highly disappointed!

TERRIBLE service. We had a larger party. We intended to split checks. We arrived about 10:15, by 11:55 we had not recieved our entres. We all purchased very good wine that suited the palette of the individual people paying the individual checks. Those bottles of wine were then served around the table randomly to whoever’s glass happened to be empty. The food was so late, individuals had to leave early, hungry, because of commitments to family. When the food did arrive, it was fantastic, I’ll give it that, however my entre did not have one of the sides that was listed in the menu (and actually one of the reasons I ordered it in the 1st place). We’re still here at 1:00 AM trying to get the checks right, they’re on their 3rd attempt. This place needs to make major changes before I’ll ever be back. With competition like House: Wine and Santa Fe steak house, I can’t imagine this place will stay open.

The wine is good. Aaaaaaaaaand that is where it stopped. In the area from NYC to do a major concert. The organizers decided this would be a great place to celebrate the performance. The assistant manager had great knowledge of the wines which was great BUT that was not enough for the terrible service that was given:– Waited over 2 hours for our food…I just ordered a salad– Waiter dropped water over one of the costumers and nothing was done about it– Food was taken off the table by waiters before the costumers were finished eating– They did not keep track on who ordered the individual wines and hence charged everyoneI am sad that this was the way we ended such an amazing evening of concerts with some influential performers from the music industry. I would not return.31 Mar, 2014The wine is good. Aaaaaaaaaand that is where it stopped. In the area from NYC to do a major concert. Amazing menu and wine selection. Had the sea bass and osso bucco for dinner…and my favorites for lunch are tuna burger and meatloaf. Great customer service, and cool atmosphere.

Hidden Gem. I have eaten at Alberico a few times now since their opening in July 2012. To be honest there are few unique high end choices in McAllen but this is an exception. The menu is a collection of dishes from different influences. Temoshi their head chef produces an array of wine friendly appetizers and specials. My favorite is the Manchego cheese puffs. The main entrees I have had include a huge 24oz Steak, Seabass, Lamb, and Kobe Beef burger. All good quantity. The wine list is unique and affordable plus they have more than 70 beers. My only knock is that they have run out of specials in the past and they can fill up quick so call ahead.

The place is nice, the service was great, the lobster empanadas are good, but not extraordinary, but the lamb is superbTry the banana fosters for dessert.
