Very friendly staff. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and it was what I expected – a burger with fries. Definitely with a try if you are in the area!
I had heard good things about this place and decided to try it this weekend as we were only about 20 miles from Mineola. Nothing special, and certainly not worth a drive from out of town. The burgers were okay but I feel they could have used seasoning and definitely more caramelization. The burger prices were okay in my opinion, but I believe everything else was outrageous. Drinks were almost $3 and not realizing the difference my son got curly fries (I’m pretty sure those were purchased frozen, where regular were seemed to me to be hand cut) and was charged extra. We both agreed the regular fries were superior. No free beans apparently on weekends and as an added bonus you get hit up for tips when paying at the counter while ordering.
Driven by many times today was the day to stop for lunch! I was thinking burger till I got to the counter and was advised that Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans was the day’s special. I went with it and I’m glad I did. The hand battered chicken was fresh hot and juicy! The potatoes hand mashed, the white gravy was good and went perfectly with the taters and as a dip for the toast (strangely not Texas toast). The meal was very good and quite filling, no skimping here. The price is right so I’ll be stopping in again when I drive through. Love the atmosphere outside of the walk up order counter. The walls are covered with napkins customers have drawn on or left notes. My only complaint if you want to call it that, maybe better called a word of caution, when I asked if the onion rings were made in house I was told they use to be but to keep up with the rush… Never, ever compromise your food quality for convenience or speed, especially if home cooked, small town food is your calling card. This starts restaurants down a slippery slope, first one time consuming item then another till you have nothing worth while left. I’m hoping that does not happen here, in fact I hope they bring back the hand made rings! (If not just take them off the menu)
YUMMIE. A must eat at place. One of the best hamburgers, and fries. We ate here three times while staying at the Mineola Civic Center RV Park. Don’t miss it
Good burger and fries…. I have no doubt believing that this is the best burger in Mineola (but I don’t know it for a fact). It appeared to be a hand-pattied griddle burger — generous in size but without any sort of seared carmelization some love on a flattop burger — really not even any seasoning to speak of. Fries are hand cut which is always a plus. Shows that a place cares because those frozen SYSCO rigs are so much less trouble. I recommend the place without hesitation but advise the burger connoisseurs among us not to expect too much. We found no huge revelations or hidden treasures here.
Food is good but there was one lady there who was so negative and obnoxious that I certainly won’t be returning.
Very good burgers.
