We stopped in yesterday. We split the chicken sandwich basket. The (homemade) onion rings were awesome. We added bacon and a side salad. Plenty of food for the 2 of us. Total bill was $10.83 plus the tip.
Only because I cant feel it in my heart to give any place a zero. Have to make your own order at the counter – no menus – have to try a decipher a very un-legible menu painted on wood at the top of the wall with a blinding glare. Lady at register asked to pay before we ate and to tip our waitress in advance. Sooner than later we realized our waitress was the one who announced our food was ready. Had to fix our own drinks, etc.. I ordered the shrimp basket due to the fact that they were way too fond of their own burgers and excessively bragged about them on signs, menus, pictures, etc.. Shrimp and hush puppies were frozen consistent with a drive thru Chinese place. Seasoned waffle fries were great…. except they re-seasoned them even though they were already seasoned. Tasted over seasoned and like they had sand on them. Asked for butter for my hush puppies – they dont have butter….. wonder what was on everyones burgers or Texas toast? A drink was also $3. I wouldnt suggest this place – drive right on by.
I have eaten here quite a few times over the years. I stop in when I happen to be travelling up or down hwy. 69. It’s always good. I stop here mainly for the chocolate pie. It is really, really good. I give them a four on the chocolate pie. The meringue on top is just right; light and fluffy without being sticky. The burgers are good also, you won’t be disappointed, they are on par with Terry’s in Greenville. I like all the notes written on the napkins and tacked to the wall. Mine has been up there for quite a few years! Some notes are quite funny, and some are from people who came from as far away as Brazil and New Zealand. I hear the fried pies are good, but I have never had one. Maybe next time. They are not cash only, not sure why it says that.
