Some History. This place was built back in the early 80’s as a tax write-off for the Vardeman Family. Specifically, Randall Vardeman. He wasn’t the businessman everyone though he was. His mother Mavis was the mastermind. There was an African-American man named Ike who worked there that was the mastermind of the smoked meat. He was a butcher and was very, very good at his job. He was also one of the kindest human beings on the planet. Randal Vardeman, however, was not. Not sure what involvement he has now, but the place was actually built as a smokehouse. It was also originally a convenience store. There were tables in the front as well as gas pumps and there were bathrooms outside for the RV campers that parked out back because it was also an RV park. The smoked meat was fantastic but only because of Ike. Everything else sucked. Bad. I haven’t been in there in many years. I hope it is much better now.
We live in town and rarely drive out to eat here. Today we did, and likely won’t again. My hamburger was burned to a crisp.
Save your time and money. The absolute worst meal I’ve eaten in my life. Will NEVER eat at this poor establishment again!!!!

Best steak in town! I usually don’t order steak at restaurants because they are tough and flavorless. Not the case here, the #10 is one of the best streaks I’ve had from a restaurant.
Awful! Won’t eat here again!. We stopped here to eat on the way through Nacogdoches, coming back from vacation. We ordered a ribeye steak and BBQ sausage platter. I got to pick my own steak from the meat case and it was a good inch thick when it started, yet when it was served, it was less that 1/2 inch thick and flattened out, like it had a cast iron skillet placed on top of it when it was cooking. I ordered it medium rare and it was served medium. We were so tired and hungry at the point, I ate it anyway. The seasoning on the steak was awful and I ended up using A-1 Steak sauce on it (something I ABHOR doing-only in extreme cases will I use it) just to be able to make it palatable enough to eat. The BBQ sausage would have been OK, except it was smothered in a awfully sweet BBQ sauce that ruined the flavor. If you like good BBQ and decent steaks, this is NOT the place to get either. Don’t waste your time or your money.
