Wow, what a great surprise! I had an amazing chopped beef brisket sandwhich & my wife loved her hamburger. Super nice staff & the atmosphere is great- very interesting TX decor, def a must visit- the place & food is exceptional.
Everyone ordered something different. Each of us were sampling each other’s food found nothing less then perfect on every dish. For the amount of food for less than $50 for four people and the antiques and old time atmosphere. It’s a perfect place for a great meal. Will return again soon.
Have had good meals here but had a bad one on Saturday April 5th 2014. Stay away from the chicken sausage gumbo, chicken was tough and way too much file gumbo in it.Wife had the ribs which were on the board as the special. They may have been the special a few days ago as the meat was tough hard and chewy.I have eaten here over a dozen times when in the area during working hours and never had anything like this. I wanted to show wife one of the good joints we found…That didn’t turn out as planned. We took 2 ribs in a to go box but threw them in the trash at home. Maybe Saturdays arn’t the best time to go here. The BBQ beef sandwich was always good.

First and last time eating here. Bad experience all the way around! Was refunded our money and we left never to go bad again! Service was one of the most unprofessional I have ever seen. Hard to find a table that wasn’t dirty with leftover food dishes. Salad bar was empty so all we had was lettuce and onions with dressing. Had to ask for napkins none around. I actually thought there was no one working there the way the place looked! Finally found the owner or manager and told them what an awful experience we had! She gave us one too many excuses we didn’t need to hear!!! I would say don’t waste your time money!
Great chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. It was a trip back in time. I love the antiques and old building. Great food at an inexpensive price.
Excellent food, great prices, & cool atmosphere! You gotta try the chicken fried steak!!!
