  My wife & I love Carmela’s in Nederland. I can’t speak for the Beaumont location since we’ve never been there, but I’ve seen some reviews that say the mid-county location is not near as good. If that’s true, then Beaumont’s Carmela’s must be really terrific! Anyway, we’ve tried pretty much everything on their menu, but keep coming back to just a few of our favorites. My wife’s favorite dish is, believe it or not, the tacos. Of all the things on their menu when we eat lunch there, she gets (3) taco’s. She says they’re larger, fuller & simply better tasting than anywhere else she’s tried. But our all-around favorite dish or (appetizer) if you will, is the salsa! Nowhere else have we found salsa this good. I’ve asked the staff a couple of times for the recipe & they claim it’s so simple, but we tried it at home once & it came out nowhere near the same. We figured we stick with the sure thing as it’s simply fantastic!We eat breakfast there every Saturday with friends. Seems that it’s a well-kept secret because it’s never crowded. (Shhhh…don’t tell everybody). That’s what we hate about I-Hop when we’re looking for a place to have breakfast for example; it’s crowded just about any time you go, but on Saturday mornings, forget it because you can’t get near the place! And amazingly enough, it’s really nothing out of the ordinary to write home about, but for breakfast in mid-county, we’re limited on choices.But we love Carmela’s & will continue to come back as long as they’re there & we’ll continue to love the salsa at the same time. But I sure wish I knew their secret!

  Gross. This is awful compared to the Beaumont location. Not authentic. Not clean. Not good.

  Very good Mexican. Expect a more traditional dish, not what you get at the chains.
