Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere! It has been few years since I have eaten at Clear Springs and it still is as good as it has always been. On this visit, I enjoyed the Crawfish touffe. Clear Springs touffe is tomato based, which is a bit different, blended with vegetables and seasonings, and is very good. May man friend had the Shrimp Brochette, three skewers of jumbo shrimp wrapped in thick cut hickory smoked bacon and stuffed with a jalapeo slice then grilled to perfection. Wow! This entree is spectacular. We also had a taste of our dining companion’s small order of onion rings, also excellent. The restaurant has quite a history, and is a fun, country casual place to dine with friends, family, and large groups.
Best fried catfish we have had in a long time! My son loved the grilled salmon. Crawfish tail appetizer was a yummy start. And good iced tea to top it all off!
Went for my birthday while in town with my family. Our waitress was rude and angry that she had to serve another table at 7:45. The onion rings were alright. Nothing special. The worst part about the whole thing was the CRICKETS. We had crickets jumping on our table, flying on people, and crawling on the floor. The waitress said they always have problems with crickets and flies. Definitely ruined the whole experience. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was really good. The vegetables tasted like they were straight out of a can. I would only recommend for people to eat here in the daytime when the crickets aren’t as bad.
The trout, shrimp, and catfish are all very good…and I am not a fan of catfish. The thing I’ve had there that wins my vote for best dish though it’s the crawfish chowder. It is incredible!
Onion Rings. Best rings anywhere
Semi satisfied. Service very poor. Food overdone. Underdone for my friends steak. Shrimp brachet was wonderful. Overall one star.
CASUAL TEXAS DINING AT IT’S BEST. Good country food, some of the best onion rings anywhere, great value for your money. Don’t expect linen napkins, metal silverware, fancy tablecloths. 1930’s dcor and some of the best fried food you can get on the planet.
