Went here for a birthday and it was excellent. Food was superb. Service was great. Plan on going back again. Highly recommend.
Don’t think because Gruene River Grill has such a cool laid back vibe that they are lazy about their food. The signature cocktails *try the spicy cucumber martini* are wonderful and the menu is full of comfort food with a Texan twist. The service was attentive and helpful. Credit card fraud by employees!We used our debit card a few weeks ago out with friends only to find out that our card number was stolen by the staff and we had 50.00 on Gamestop charges the next day. The couple we were with had 500.00 in charges in Austin retail establishments. My charges were later cancelled by Gamestop since they (THE THIEVES) didn’t have my 4 digit pin code. Our friends however weren’t so lucky, they got hit and had to dispute the charges (500.00) which were later reversed, they called and spoke to the manager, Pete Aguirre. So tonight we went to the restaurant again and ask to discuss this with the manager his name is Pete Aguirre, he will come across at first as a nice guy, but he is a punk, poor manager, no leader. At the end of the night, he comp’d my friends meal (same one that got screwed for 500.00) when I confronted him, he said the reason he didn’t make it right with me was due to the fact that I didn’t call him. Well, my charges were caught by Chase, no need to call. So needless to say, we had a confrontation, he admitted that this has been going on at their restaurant and wanted the servers names from the incident. Excuse me, there is no excuse for my credit card number being stolen by your employees. When we had the confrontation, my wife and I were escorted out of the restaurant. It got very heated by this little punk and his assistant manager who both came very close to experiencing a good US Navy squaring away, had my wife not pulled me away. I was in his face and shouldn’t have had to be, i am the customer, all he had to do was make mine right like he did our friends, but he didnt. There are a lot of places to eat in town and to have to worry about your credit card bring ripped off isn’t worth it. Stay away from Gruene River Grill unless you want to get screwed and have the hassle of having to get new cards and the hassles at the bank to reverse charges you didn’t create. We will be letting the BBB of New Braunfels know as well as the San Antonio News stations, not to mention YELP. Stay away please for your own financial safety!!!
First of all what kind of establishment of this size has a teeny tiny bathroom for women with two stalls and one sink? It was so cramped. Every single person in that bathroom complained (5 of us). However the rest of the building is cool. We ate in a huge room with very high ceilings. I split the fish tacos with my mom. They were not amazing, but not bad. The black bean rice was spicy, but not that great. My boyfriend ordered the burger and it was dry and flavorless. It looked like they had mass produced burgers and fries and let them sit under the heat lamp. The waiter did not even ask how the burger should be cooked. The fries were also not hot and rubbery. The bun was tasty though. My dad ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It was also dry. The service was not stellar. We had to flag him down several times. Overall, not a great experience. We will not be returning.
Awesome food! Pulled Pork sandwich isn’t on the menu but it’s one of the best plates here! Ribs really do fall off the bone! Worth the trip to Gruene!!
This place was excellent. We sat outside on the deck which provided an excellent atmosphere. My wife had lemon chicken and I had the guadalupe chicken and both were excellent. I would eat there again!
