How lucky for us to have stumbled upon Texas oldest bakery. Staff actually seem proud of working there and point out things like the original wood flooring from 1868. If youre going to load up on sweets, why not do it at such a historic place? We bought 3 helpings of danish: cherry, peach, and their special apple blend, all coated in a delicious icing. Single servings are $2.25 and if I recall correctly a whole danish (which is darn near 3 feet long) is about $23 with half running about $12.We also picked up some cookies and cinnamon treats all totaling about $15. Reasonably priced overall and quite good.facebook.com/groups/rvrestaurantreviews

Naegelins is NOT what it was – will never go back. Had been going to Naegelins for most of my life and I’m 60 now. Used to look forward to a reason to go to New Braunfels so I could pick up some goodies at Nagelins. My mother loved their fresh baked bread and asked me to pick her some up whenever I’d go by. About 4 years ago I went in and after asking for the bread she wanted noticed the clerk picking up packages and looking them over and then laying some of them on the back counter. I didn’t think much about it but bought the one she handed me. When I took it to mom later that day she cut into it and said it was spoiled – and sure enough there was mold starting to grow in various spots. Went back next time and saw the clerk repeat the process. I asked her what she was doing and she said the ones she was taking down were bad. They evidently had no system by which to determine when the product needed to be thrown out versus being sold for fresh! I also found their deserts were not up to the standards that they used to be. Went back a couple times since then and after looking around decided I didn’t need their ‘day old’ but sold as fresh pastries. Shame that they let the quality go down the drain. I heard that they had been sold but had no idea until seeing the name in the comment section here. Now it makes sense. After having several issues at Granzine’s meat market and finding the barbeque to be poor I’ve not gone back to either of them.

Moldy Product. I arrived at Naegelin’s Bakery at a little after 10AM on August 23, 2014.I had gone there to purchased a cake for a birthday.I bought a Boston Cream Cake for $18.75 and tax.I drove straight home, which was about 10 minutes away. I placed the cake in the front passenger seat and kept the A/C on all the way home.My Brother-in-Law’s birthday was today, so I wanted to have a nice cake for dinner. After dinner, we cut the cake and sat around to eat it.I noticed some green spots on the bottom of my piece, so I decided to turn the entire cake over and look. Sure enough, the entire bottom of the cake was all modly. This ruined the entire birthday event.NOTE: I had kept the cake in the refrigerator until time for the party. So much I had heard about the quality of this establishment and now I know their food can make humans very sick.Just look at the photo I attached. We had to throw out the entire cake. Such a waste of time and money.

Pop the Beggars. I must admit I had never seen a bag of 48 donut holes . . . so I had to buy one. What we don’t eat, I figure I can put in my slingshot to pop the raccoons off the deck at night. I am sure they won’t mind, the little beggars!Breads, cakes, pies, donuts and cookies; it’s easy to find something to satisfy your sweet tooth. Love the nutty, crunchy ranger cookies and the big white bread loaves that I use for paninis and are also perfect for crusty grilled cheese sandwiches.Good luck if you take your kids inside as you will never get them out. Most of the sweet goodies are in cases at eye level for the little munchkins and they will want one of everything. Guess I can’t blame ’em!

Very Disappointed….. I normally order any baked goods from 2Tarts a newer bakery in town. They do a great job. This time I decided to try Naegelins. I will say, I was VERY disappointed with the overal quality. I placed the order over a month ago and spoke with the cake decorater and even left the invitation for color and decor ideas. The frosting had wholes and bubbles, the pink icing ended up being red and the colored frosting ended up bleeding into the white polka dots. (they are not white anymore) I spent over 2 dollars each for these petit fours. My daughter’s party is tomorrow morning-so no time to find something new or even have them fix. I have learned a very hard lesson that you get what you pay for. Very sloppy work, too bad since I had such high expectations for bakery.

BIRTHDAY CAKE DIASTER!!. I ordered a cake 3 wks before daughters bday which was on a Sunday, an employee called me the friday before for a pickup time and I said 1pm on Sunday and she said ok. I get there and they close at noon which the employee failed to inform me of. I called Monday for a refund a girl said yes we can then the manager gets on the phone saying no he can’t when I explained the situation he said that the girls wouldnt have called for a pickup time unless it was a wedding cake basically calling me a liar. I told him I would come get half my refund but never go there again to which he replied well then why am i giving you a refund at all!! Wow, shocked by the level of crappy customer service. Go to Sweet Dreams bakery instead if you are looking for courteous service and tasty baked goods.
