Visited Shogun in the last week twice, once for lunch and once dinner mid-week. In both cases the food was very good, served promptly, and at a fair price. Wait service for lunch was fine, although our party of four had to flag down wait staff several times to get water/drinks refilled. Given they were not hugely busy, this should not have happened. Maybe a bit better training on customer service? Service for a party of two for dinner was another matter. We were promptly seated, order taken and served our entrees in a reasonable time. However, after being half way through dinner, realized we had not been served the salad and soup that was to come with the meal. We asked our wait person, Andrew, if the meals came with salad/soup and he said yes. He then said they had almost run out of salad and what was left was not great. He did not apologize for this or offer something else in its place. Nor did he say why we had not been served the soup that was part of the meal ?!! Apparently they had that because we asked for the soup to go and it was very good. . When we got the bill we checked it and there was a charge for $10 for a Sapporo beer! Thinking that a bit ridiculous, we asked Andrew and his response was oh, I charged you for a premium Sapporo instead of a regular. He changed the ticket to the actual price of $4.50. We paid cash and when we gave him the folder it was clear he did not intend to bring any change back until we asked for it??Although the food is very good and a good value for the $$, we did have questions about the service we were provided. Was all of this accidental? Poor training? Or, intentional??
Disappointed. Waiter was very new and could tell he wasn’t given proper training on the dishes and drinks. Host gave us happy hour list then we got charged at regular price. When I spoke up, manager got defensive about it. Also, they forgot half of the side dishes that come with our dinner, like the soup and salad. Only saving grace was bartender was excellent and food was pretty tasty.
Sushi Bar. The Sushi was excellent and also the service.S H
The Tuna clearly wasn’t fresh and was very fishy tasting.
Food was okay. I’m sure every hibachi cook is different but our fried rice was plain, steak was over cooked (we requested med rare) and chicken was okay. Basically it was below average hibachi food for average hibachi price.
Best hibachi we have had in this area since moving here a year ago!. We tried Shogun for the first time with another couple on Saturday, June 14, 2014. Three of us ordered the steak and chicken and one ordered the scallops. The onion soup was a broth-type soup, typical of a Japanese restaurant, as was the salad with ginger dressing. Both good. We all paid extra for the fried rice, which is typical. It was delicious. The vegetables and entrees were very flavorful and the portions were generous. Only one of us were able to eat everything on our plates. The scallop entree was huge, maybe a dozen. They filled the plate. The steak was ordered medium by two of us. Although cooked closer to medium-well, it was flavorful and tender. Service left a little to be desired. When the chef came out, we informed him that we had not gotten any drinks, soup or salads, even though we had ordered them soon after being seated. We also could not seem to get any drink refills and then it was very difficult attempting to get our bill so we could leave (a pet peeve of mine). Overall we rate the food very good but the service was severely lacking. We are going to attribute this to only being open a couple of weeks and will go back. We rate this 3.5 out of 5, losing 1 point for service and .5 point for steak being done more than we would have preferred.
Shogun Grill & Sushi Bar needs improvement. My Wife & I ate their this evening. Several things need drastic improvement. First the iced tea was very very weak we asked and they brought out a slightly if any improved one over the first try. Second their soup was a onion soup of some kind nearly inedible. No flavor & mostly water. At these prices it should have been far better. Then came the Hibachi experience. Not as good as others we have visited in this area. Portions were small and they charge an extra $2.50 per person for fried rice. Other places it’s included. The favor was good but as an example I ordered scallops I was presented with two scallops sliced into 3 layers. Small amount of food for the price although it was tasty. The Steak was acceptable.. Total spent was $60.00 with the tip. We’ve both have had far better for a lot less. I would rate this place 2 stars out of 5
