Yummmm. Beefy, smoky, tender and juicy beef ribs are my favorite thing at Killen’s. Everything is delicious: the brisket, sausage, and the bread pudding – but the ribs are to die for!

Flew into Houston for the weekend and immediately drove over to Killen’s to try their BBQ. Hearing that Killen’s is rated as one of the top BBQ restaurants in the nation voted by BBQ pit Masters, I decided to order ala-carte and forgo the meat platters in order to try as many different meats as possible. My order consisted of 1 beef rib, 1/2 lb pork ribs, 1/2 lb mixed lean and moist brisket, 1/2 lb pork belly burnt ends, 1 jalapeo sausage link, a chopped beef sandwich, a pint of cream corn and a side of bread pudding along with an unsweetened tea. After subtracting $16 for the military discount my order came to $70. The price was quite shocking in relation to the amount of food. My 1 beef rib alone cost $22. Reviewing the BBQ, the beef rib was the best beef rib I have ever eaten in my entire life. It tasted as if I was eating brisket strait off a bone. The pork ribs however were very disappointing. They were a little dry and had been cooked so long that they were very thin and the sauce seemed to glaze up more similar to a Chinese spare rib then Texas BBQ. The brisket was ok but not any different from most other BBQ joints, just more expensive. The jalapeo link was cold and didn’t come across very spicy. The burnt ends didn’t turn out at all as I was expecting. Being pork belly Burt ends they were more fat then meat. I wish I had not ordered them at all. The cream corn has more of a spicy flavoring than sweet. It was good but I prefer Rudy’s cream corn to Killen’s. Finally, the bread pudding was out of this world. If I was to recommend anything from Killen’s to anyone going to try their BBQ for the first time, try the beef rib and bread pudding. Apart from those items, everything else I tried on the menu was just ok and nothing to return for and order again. My curiosity has been satisfied regarding the hype. Amazing beef ribs and bread pudding. Next time I’m in town I’ll move on and try a new BBQ spot.

Today we experienced Killens BBQ for the 1st time. Our family member arrived at 9am to get in line and was 3 rd in line for an 11am opening. By the time they opened, the line was wrapping around the parking lot. Once inside the guys behind the counter were attentive and helpful as they prepared the meets and sides we ordered. We even met Mr Killen himself who was calm as his team was preparing to serve the huge line of customers like the do every day. Once we got the food to our family’s home where we had lunch, we enjoyed moist brisket with minimal fat and a nice dry rubbed tasty dark crust. We enjoyed the huge beef ribs which seemed to fall off the bone. The link sausage was flavorful and a bit spicy. The Mac n cheese was some of the tastiest I’ve had. This is BBQ made right, but be aware that you may have to invest quite a bit of time to wait for your food. We looked forward to this treat as we drove in from Florida where great BBQ is difficult to find.

The best meat ever in my life!!! My family and I flew so far away from Indonesia, did a road trip only to try the meat! It was very long queue, but they can manage to entertain the people outside with free beers. We ordered ribs, baked potato, corn and bread butter pudding. CRAZZZZYYYY!!! The meat was perfectly cooked and super juicy, the corn (porridge) sweet blend very well with the meat. And not only the ribs, they also served the best bread butter pudding that I ever tasted!!! Super recommended and definitely will come back.Tips: good to combine with trip to NASA Johnson facility

Wow I love this place! It is a carnivore paradise! I had the 4 meat plate to get a good sample of their finest meats. The brisket was super tender with a nice crust and beautiful smoky flavor. I didn’t add any sauce it was so good on its own. The pork ribs had a nice bite and pulled away from the bone nicely. Again tender and tasty. I also had the turkey. I was expecting dry but was surprised with a juicy white meat turkey cut that was seasoned through the middle. The pork sausage was ok, very fatty and spicy. Good but last on my list. The star of the show was the burnt ends they they sell separately. OMG they were super rich, tender, and melted in my mouth. I could make a meal with just the burnt ends. I can see it in a sandwich, over rice, or on top of mash potatoes. But just on their own is amazing. WARNING! There is always a line outside! Bring sunscreen, there isn’t much coverage out there so you will be in the sun up to and hour. The line moves well and is so worth the wait. I want to go here again soon!

Solid BBQ, clean flavors. Tangy sauce is very good. Nice atmosphere. Lunch cost per person $15-20. Not sure it’s up to its reputation, but it’s very good. I’ll gladly come again.

This is the best BBQ place that I’ve been to. They’re sides and desserts are also difficult to beat. I usually default to either brisket or pork belly. They’re beef ribs are also good!
