Bad service!. I called the restaurant in Phase, TX, for a price in a botana for 3 and the lady answered that the prices change all the time and she couldn’t get the price for me, then hung up the phone. Very bad phone ettiquette, stopped me from ever going there!

Very good food but the place could use a good cleaning. I don’t go that often because of this.

Late-night hours. When they answered the phone the trumpets were about 10 feet away! It sounded like they said this:Friday & Saturday they close at 2:00Sunday at 12:00The rest of the week at 1:00

Good!. Above average Tex-Mex fare! Hard to do in an area with so much competition in the niche! They execute well on all levels. Fresh made tortillas and salsas. The drinks and chips are always refilled quickly!

Good Food, Bad Service. I used to go to the location in Pharr a long time ago – but the commute was to far from my office/home. I have now gone to the location off the hwy 83 just east of tenth on the frontage during lunch – and the food is good. It used to have those horrible horn players at the pharr location that just didnt let you talk with your friends. The manager seems to be on the ball – except that we keep getting bad service. Tea refills is like pulling teeth, and getting them to bring the bill takes a long time. I would very much like them to change the policy to charging me at my table (they should get those wireless credit card machines that run the CC right in front of you) because i had to wait in line for 6 other people to pay my bill – and i like for my waitress to know that i tipped well (maybe she will recognize me and refill my tea next time i come in). I will go back – but not sure how many more times i will put up with good food – but with the lack of service.

This place was heavily recommended by some locals and for good reason. If possible bring a Spanish speaker with you (we didn’t have that luxury). I ordered the costillas al carbon, which were top quality and boasted a generous portion for the $15 price tag, given that they came with a baked potato, beans, rice, and grilled veggies in addition to their chips and salsa (a nice avocado tomatillo sauce with a good kick). Others ordered the other rib meal, which came out bubbling in what appeared to be a cauldron. Nobody was able to clean their plates despite best efforts. Eat here if you get a chance and don’t be scared to spend a few bucks and try something new.
