Tried CFR yesterday since I heard it was good. It looked like a nice place on the outside and inside. No one was there to greet you when you entered and had to wait till someone got there to be seated. Place had fewer cars around than other restaurants in the area. Seated right next to the bathroom area and there were plenty of seats around that were preferable. Waiter was attentive. Drinks were so so, I finished my water and left the drink (prickly pear swirled margarita). Warned it was a little bitter, that was an understatement. Hamburger was good but the steak fries were limp. The Chicken fried steak looked appealing but smelled like it had been fried in the frialator with the catfish. The batter tasted just like it smelled. The steamed vegetables were over steamed. Needless to say I won’t go there again.
Update: 28 Feb ’17: We went back for dinner recently and were again impressed. We were there near closing but the staff still treated us warmly and interacted friendly with my wife and I.Their mole enchiladas were quite good. Not the top mole’s I have tried in North Dallas, but worth coming back for. They could have used more mole sauce. Recently at Chitos I had mole chicken and there was enough sauce to cover the chicken with lots to spare for eating with rice and chips.Sharon’s fajitas were very nicely gone, exactly medium-rare as she requested.- – – – -I’ve been to this new restaurant a few times and its rapidly becoming one of my favorite Tex-Mex places. And that’s against some tough competition in North Dallas. On the latest visit for a weekday lunch everyone in my party enjoyed their food, especially the picky eaters. Our one vegetarian loved the spinach enchiladas, my wife’s fajitas were very good, my chicken mole enchiladas were maybe the second-best mole I have had. Plus its reasonably priced and you get a lot of food for your money. The service was very welcoming and helped us enjoy our meal very much, the same as my other visits. This is slightly hidden on the north-bound Central access road, just past Parker its worth finding this place!
From the Cuellar family that founded El Chico, Cantina Laredo and El Corazon. The new Ranch-Mex concept offers Texas ranch favorites with the Tex-mex classics. You can mix the two together like CFS with queso or have salad and mashed potatoes with your fajitas. Seasonal fruit margaritas like watermelon, peach, mango, strawberry and of course the traditional. Family Friendly environment, friendly service with top quality food, large portions at value pricing.
