Not bad Indian food but not outstanding. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and my husband had the Chicken Vindaloo. It had nice flavor. I really liked the rice. We also had an order of Naan bread. It was a little blander than some I have had. My husband had some rice pudding. It is a soupy rice pudding which is not my preference but he liked it. The staff was very attentive.
I had high hopes from this place based on early reviews. However, I was not impressed with the food or the service, The seats were not comfortable, dishes were not clean, food was too oily and desserts were pathetic.I think I ‘ll visit this place again, before I leave a review as I think they can do better. It must have been a bad Monday for them.
It may be a foodie heresy to admit you enjoy buffets and yet here we are. I prefer to think of a buffet as an opportunity to sample many items that I may not yet want to commit to making an entire meal of, and not just a way to stuff your face. The downfall of restaurants that offer a buffet is that the quality rarely matches that of the menu offerings. Not the case with Basera. The flavors and variety available on the buffet were superior to most restaurants’ menu plates. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared and it was obvious that they take a great deal of pride in their food. Unlike some Indian buffets, the flavors weren’t toned down for the buffet, and the spices and heat were all present. Just as a side note: Basera was perhaps the cleanest and most well-maintained buffet I’ve yet been to in the DFW area. We were only there for around 45 minutes, and we witnessed them checking the temperature of the food multiple times to ensure freshness. It’s a little thing lke that which makes them superior to other Plano/Frisco buffets.
