Party of 14 had a lovely evening outside on their terrace last night to celebrate a HS graduate. We ordered 4 of their appetizers and entrees from pastas to burgers and seafood like mussels and bouabaise. This places bakes their own dessert and we had about half of the cakes on offer. We’ll return
Went here on Father’s Day and ordered the prime rib special. Mistake. I ordered it medium and it came out it was raw. I sent it back and it came back still raw and the cut of meat was riddled with tendons and gristle. At that point I told the waitress to send it back and the manager comp’d me the price. I found it strange while I was talking to the manager he did make a statement when they were cutting the prime rib up that morning he noticed that it had more than usual amount of gristle. I thought to Myself then why did you serve it. will not return which is disappointing since we liked their desserts.
I’ve lived in Frisco for over 10 years, never eaten dinner here. I can however testify to the awesomeness of the desserts they have, as well as a martini or two.Chocolate cake (warmed slightly), add the pecans. Thank me later.
Entrees were a major disappointment. Duck was tough. Steak was rare on one end and well done on other though I asked for medium. Frites looked and tasted like prepacked frozen French fries you might get from a fast food restaurant only not as good. Escargot was decent as was the goat cheese appetizer. Pots de creme reminded me of Grandma’s chocolate pie filling. Would only go back for drinks, appetizers, or desserts; and only at the bar. The lady bartender was very nice while our waiter provided the only air of French authenticity about this place: he acted like he would have preferred to have been anywhere, but there. He was not attentive at all. I can only guess it was because he was expecting a larger tip from the table next to us as they were a table of 4 having many more rounds of alcohol than us. Thankfully a very nice Asian (only mention as I didn’t catch his name) young man filled in when he noticed we needed help. We’re still waiting for the bread to be delivered…
Beautiful Layout with Subpar Food. Bonnie Ruth’s is on the cusp of being very good. The layout and decor is extremely pleasing. The patio is especially nice. It’s more of a hidden courtyard that blocks out the cement world of the strip mall. The servers, host and bartender were very nice. We picked Bonnie’s because my wife said a friend posted on her wall about it being 1/2 price bottle of wine night. After validating it on their website, we headed to Bonnie’s. Our server did not know about 1/2 price night. Only one bottle in their four page menu was at half price after going and asking the manager. The food is my main issue at Bonnie Ruth’s. When a restaurant prices themselves in the $15-28 for a single plate the food has to be fantastic to justify it. My Prime Rib sandwich had fat and gristle throughout the sandwich. I did not finish it. The Wild Mushroom & Goat Cheese Pizza was under cooked. The server said it would have a cracker crunch, but it was doughy. The goat cheese flavor was missing and the pizza was not hot. The price is way too much for the subpar flavors.
