Average Italian Food. This is another restaurant where only a thumbs up or down does not work. I cannot give this a thumbs down, but I am not totally up either. I finally gave a thumbs up because I would come back; however, there is better food out there. The decor comes close to being beautiful. The faux brick with large oil paintings and fresco looks nice against the arched wine racks and white pilars. The look gets lost when you see the diner style hard plastic sheet on each table with a few plastic fake plants. The food is average. The hot buttery rolls are the highlight. They come out hot. When you tear into one the steam pours out. The bread is light, fluffy and very good. The salad that came with our entree was a basic iceberg lettuce with shaved carrots and shaved swiss or mozzeralla cheese. It is very bland and not eye appealing. I ate the cheese alone to find the flavor, it had none. For our main dish, we ordered the Chicken Piccata and Pasta Trio. It was okay. The chicken is pounded thin and cooked. A lemon butter with caper sauce is poured over the top. I really enjoyed the lemon and caper. It paired nice with the thin chicken. There was a side of pasta with marinara on it. I agree with another reviewer. These two sauces mixed on my plate and should not. The pasta was just average. The other entree Pasta Trio came out boiling hot. It was delivered right from the oven. It held it’s burning heat for awhile. We had to wait about 10 minutes for it to come down to eatable temps. It was okay. The marinara was bland to sweet. The pastas were fine.
My husband and I called in mid-October to reserve the upstairs room for a Christmas dinner party. I asked the man I spoke with if he required anything else besides my contact info and he told me they would need a final headcount a couple of days before the party. I got a phone call from them on November 24. They told me that another party (a corporation that books with them every year) had booked the room for the same night and they put down a deposit. They wanted us to change reservation dates. I explained that we had already sent out invitations and could not change dates. So basically we got screwed because Cafe Amore could make more money off another party. Cafe Amore’s staff handled this in an unprofessional manner. We will never eat there again which is a shame because they serve good food.
