My 1st and last experience here. My friend and I went to try this place today, despite the negative reviews. I should have listened to the reviews who advised to go eat somewhere else. I read where there was a nasty smell when you enter. This is fact. We both noticed it. Chips were excellent, but the salsa was gross. Who puts cumin in salsa?? Ruined it for us. Iced tea was yucky too. I ordered the fajita salad, which looked awesome, but the ranch dressing they used was not good, and my friends enchiladas were cold and the beans tasted old. Our server was sweet though. Needless to say, I will never be back to this place. Too many other better choices. Total waste of money.

We dine here 2-3 times a week!. We love their chicken flautas, white queso, chips & salsa, beef fajita nachos, summer salad, and fajitas. They usually have 4 different TV screens playing for the sports lovers. I have dined here as an individual, with my spouse, and as a larger group; their service is always good!Monday is All-You-Can-Eat Fajitas night. They have daily specials, like Taco Tuesday, Enchilada Wednesday, Quesadilla Thursday, etc. They also offer lunch specials M-F from 11:00AM to 3:00PM ranging from $5.50 to $10.75.My favorite item on the menu is their summer salad with fajita chicken, crumbled bacon, avocado, pecans, strawberries, kiwi, cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It’s a huge salad with wonderful flavor. For dessert, their Sopapillas with honey are over the top!

Decent Change of Pace w/ Cool Decor. El Norte is a turquoise blue building that you cannot miss from the street. The six foot metal chicken and wall murals give it character. Inside, the wood plank ceilings with hubcaps and beer signs everywhere set up a very cool decor. The four seat tequila bar is fun. The patio outside would be nice in the right weather. Service is very good. They are attentive and friendly. Food is reasonable. The taco salad was really good. The chicken quesadilla was also good. The gringo enchilada was okay. With all the Mexican restaurants, El Norte sets themselves apart with the decor. The food is a nice change of pace.

I would not recommend this place. We were really excited to try it out, but were so disappointed. The restaurant was empty, but it took about 20 min to get someone to assist us, and another 10 minutes for our drinks. Moving on from the delay – I ordered the brisket tacos and they were just awful, after biting into the first one I found myself checking on a small white tube (no doubt part of the animal) but it ruined my appetite 100%. The brisket was in slices rather than shredded. All in all an awful experience.

Love the food but…. Our family loves to eat at El Norte! We have been loyal customers for many years and have noticed the bathrooms really need to be updated and cleaned up.

My Favorite Plano Tex-Mex. El Norte is my favorite Tex-Mex in Plano. The service can be hit-or-miss, but the food is always the best feature. I have been a customer for 20 years.

Cant understand why there are bad reviews on this restaurant. Always great food service and margaritas. Its a place you can have great food everytime and quiet enough to have a conversation. Its interior is not suppose to be current decor .
