Hickory is a new Kent Rathburn restaurant in far NW Plano at 121 & N Dallas Toll. His other restaurants are Jasper’s and Abacus. This one focuses on BBQ meats Kansas City style. I really liked this place. The decor is rustic with rough plank walls, scraped floors, and black walnut tables. Service is wonderful. The minute you walk in the door the pleasant smiles, hellos and how can I help you starts. It lasts the whole meal including your walk out the door. My only complaint is they might be over eager to serve. Everything was prompt, fast and attentive. It did not allow time to relax, chill and talk a bit.I am officially in love with Shiner Bock Burnt End Chili. Those are three food groups I love and they are now in one dish. Calling it chili is a loose term. The beer soaked tips are placed in a chili gravy and topped with shredded cheddar. It was fantastic. The 44 Farm Burger was great. I really appreciate the egg being cooked sunny-side up. It allowed the yoke to break and add to the overall flavor. Maw Maw’s Buttermilk Pie was very good. The Texas Sized Chocolate Cupcake was fun in the presentation, but nothing special in flavors. I definitely will be back if nothing more than to have the chili.
