Probably the best BBQ I have ever had. I got the brisket. It was tender tasty and well seasoned. My son got the prime rib. It also was tender and flavorful. Smoked deviled eggs were very good. Whiskey smores bread pudding also rocked
As a tourist in Texas, definitely wanted to try BBQ Ribs. After speaking to multiple people, came to Lockhart. Had been warned to reach early as the the good stuff finishes. Were there just in time to get some AMAZING pork ribs. Tender and full of flavor. Loved the ambiance and the fact that all the food is served wrapped in paper with some bread. Tried a sausage also, but then it was no different from those available anywhere else.
Very good BBQ but not the best. I’ll come back when I return to my childhood home.
Good But Greasy Meats. Read about the new Lockhart location in Plano so we headed there for lunch today. It was really cold outside so we were thinking no big crowds at lunch time and we were correct. Dont count on getting a parking space out front of the restaurant as they are almost always taken. There is a small city parking lot out back of the restaurant where you can park for three or four hours. There is also a back entrance to Lockharts so that will save you a few steps in the cold. You will see a lot of fire wood stacked against the back wall. The ordering is done at the counter which rest just in front of the area where the cooking is taking place. There is a large blackboard to your left showing meats that can be ordered and the prices. Its all by the 12 pound or pound except for the chicken and that was half or whole. We ordered a 12 chicken and the meat was moist and fully cooked and frankly delicious. For some reason it was greasy though and that grease actually went though the paper our meats were being placed on. The second item was pork ribs and while being full of meat and likewise as delicious, they were extremely greasy. I think we went through a roll of paper wiping our finger off. You will receive the meats you order on a piece of paper. Dont forget to ask for bread. The 12 chicken was $6.99 and the ribs about $8 or $9 for 12 pound. My cash register receive did not reflect item by item , only a total. We picked up a cup or tub of potato salad and found it not to our liking. Made with red potatoes and containing slivers of what appeared to be brisket plus a sauce that we did not like at all. We ate two bites and tossed the rest. Also got a cup of beans which we found to be extremely spicy and hot. The beans contained some meat plus some additional vegetables. We did the same for the beans—tossed them. The seating on the first floor is really for large groups or you can sit at the bar. There is an upstairs seating for seating about 47 customers. We opted for the second floor seating and by the time we took our food up those 20 or so steep stairs and returned back for the condiments and drinks twice on the first floor, we were so tired and exhausted we just sat there a couple of minutes before trying to eat anything. Each table had a roll of hand towels on the table and believe me you will need lots of them before you finish off the meats.Clean you table and dump the trash in the the cans upstairs so you dont have top carry all of that stuff back to the main floor. By the way the staff is very friendly. I am giving this location 4 stars because of their meats and 2 stars for the veggies.
Order the brisket!!!. Our family visited Texas for the first time in April and went to Lockhart’s after hearing it was great. They did not disappoint!!! The brisket was outstanding…my husband and I are still talking about it 6 months later!
Great service, better food!. The bomb dot com! come to Jesus brisket! pecan lodge move over, there’s a better, cheaper option in town now! over all great experience.
Meat mission: Amongst the best. I am off training and on a business trip down in Texas for 2 weeks. So I decided to go on a meat mission: try out as many BBQ joints as possible (What else should I be eating in Texas? I wasn’t going to go on a American Chinese Take-Out mission). This place had by far the best service. They made me try everything I wasn’t sure about (Shoulder) and asked me exactly how I wanted it (dry or moist) which resulted in the best eat out I had for BBQ (I’ve tried 7 joints so far).Good local tap beer selection also.Recommended place!
