Excellent customer service- friendly and polite . The food was excellent-I was driving by and I saw their sign that stated they served excellent hamburgers, so I decided to try them. I can attest that the hamburger was excellent. I will definitely go back and try other things on the menu.
I ordered the Greek Omelet, side of hashbrowns (I asked the be browned) and a side or rye toast (for the tzatziki sauce that comes with the omelet). The omelet was good, 3-egg I believe: there was maybe an ounce of gyro meat, I’m not sure, don’t think I actually tasted it. My hashbrowns were burnt to a crisp. No idea what happened to my rye bread. You practically have to beg to get a refill on iced tea (served in teeny tiny cups). They do serve awesome thick slices bacon and why it deserves a Two rating instead of 1.
Mama Jenny’s family diner. If you plan to put your money back in your pocket and go somewhere else. I’ve had the eggs florentine and chicken omelette with pancakes and home fries. My pancakes and my potatoes not edible my home fries came out burnt the pancakes that I receive were supposed to be light and fluffy they felt like a ton of bricks they were flavorless it says somebody had just threw some flour and water and threw it on the griddle when when I informed the waitress she said manager know. when the manager inform the cook he said I’ll take 10% off now I had only three parts to it and the only was able to eat the omelette so the price that the actual meal I still ended up paying the full price there was no compensation made if you choose to go there go at your own risk and be forewarned you will be very disappointed
Family Dining—Not Fancy dining. If you check the internet dont do like I did and get the wrong location. This location is called MAMA JENNYS FAMILY DINER and it is the exact same location as the old Chubbys. The menu is heavily loaded toward breakfast. We stopped by for lunch and ask for the seniors menu. There was none but if you ask at the cash register they will give you 10% off you bill. Ordered the chicken fried steak, black eyed peas and turnip greens. Came with a salad as well. The salad was very large. Ordered the vinegar and oil dressing on the side. The container had far more vinegar than oil. The chicken fried steak comes in three sizes and I ordered the smallest one and it was plenty. Covered with white gravy. The turnip greens were excellent and the black eyes peas very good. Came with cornbread and rolls, both of which were very good.Spouse ordered the turkey and dressing and found the white meat turkey good. The dressing was OK. In addition she ordered fried okra and mashed potatoes. Both were very good. Service was good and the meal was plate hot when served. This restaurant location has been around for a while and it is certainly not a fancy restaurant but rather a comfortable family style restaurant with very reasonable prices. There are more breakfast items on the menu than any other times and even though it was approaching noon time several were ordering and eating breakfast. A very good place for breakfast.
Very disappointed since ownership changed.. I have been going to this diner since moving to Plano 3 yrs ago. My kids and grandchildren would rather eat at Chubby’s than any of the popular restaurants. Great southern hospitality. Not anymore. I have been there four times now since the new owners took over, and nothing at all is the same. I had the chicken fry, it was still good, but the broccoli and rice casserole was awful. It had to have cooked with spoiled cheese or something because the taste was very, very sour. Other than coffee, I am probably done.
Poor service. Like many others writing reviews…I was a long-time Chubby’s-after-church person! I’ve been to Mama Jenny’s many times since the change but last Saturday was my final attempt. I came in with no one in line, and was asked to wait (okay) – then another couple came in and the hostess promptly seated them. As it had been on the last several tries, the services was slow, the portions were small, the wait for coffee refills was long, and the food not what I had come to love about Chubby’s. On several visits, we waited for quite some time for our entire order to appear (it came a plate or so at a time and then we waited for quite some time to receive the remainder of the meal.) SO disappointed.
