Taverna Rossa is hidden away from the road on Preston just South of Spring Creek, kind of behind Mi Cocina. They are part of a small chain of highend pizza restaurants started by some of the better chefs in Dallas.Simply put this has the best pizza and best salads in Plano, if not of all North Dallas. While this can get busy at rush hours I’ve never had to wait for a table no matter what size party I come with. The servers are quick and helpful and always make my visits pleasant.Their salads are a little offbeat, but excellent. My favorite, the stag, has pecans, pancetta, gorgonzola. While many places give you just a hint of cheese at Taverna Rossa the cheese was plentiful! Other salads were just as good. The pizza has a thin crust that slightly crisp and a little chewy – just perfect for me. The toppings are high quality and their are enough to make each bite special without overloading the pizza. They have a good selection of local craft beers. I haven’t yet tried the sandwiches. While there are other good pizza places in Plano that I like a lot (like some NY style slice restaurants) this is my favorite restaurant in all of Plano.

$9 for a small pizza from their specialty list plus a small salad: not a bad deal for lunch. The Stag salad (Spinach) and Margherita pizza hit the spot today for lunch. Not bad.Shhh… I had a small Lakewood Stout with it.

Taverna Rossa has a great drink menu, fun pizza options and wonderful service! Sometimes it can get a little loud but overall a great restaurant

My all time fave pizza place. I bring EVERYONE here. I love their gig and goat cheese pizza, trust me, it’s amazing. I cannot shower enough praise upon this restaurant!

Decor is very nice. My server was very friendly and attentive, initially. It got more crowded while I was there and she then disappeared. Ordered the small Caesar salad. The small could have fed 2. The dressing on it was closer to Italian dressing than the Caesar dressing I’m more accustomed to, but I liked it. I ordered the R&D pizza (chef’s special). It was Coastal Crab Dynamite. It was OK. The crust has NO flavor. The sauce on the pizza was minimal. Overall the pizza was very dry. I’d give them a second chance but order something different.

The food is delish, the building beautiful, location is excellent, but service drags this place down. You feel as though you’re intruding when you arrive and as though you’ve outstayed your visit if you order a second drink. Go for everything but the service. With pleasant staff, this place would be jewel.

The worst pizza (if you can call that thin crap piza. You can taste the low budget ingredients!!!! Certainly not for people who have been in Italy!!!!!
