Anniversary dinner and the second time to Capital Grill in Plano. When you go to Capital Grill, you should plan to leave a lot of YOUR capital behind. The prices here make other high dollar restaurants seem like a bargain. And with that come high expectations. Our first visit a year ago was…

  • Om And Nom

We wrapped up week three of Dallas Restaurant Week at Capital Grill it was also Oms birthday!Om: Nom and I have been here a few times within the last few years and remember them being a quality steakhouse with the highlight being an outstanding mac & cheese. We made 5:30pm reservations and got seated immediately. The ambiance is what you might expect from an upscale steakhouse, with paintings on the wall, white tablecloths, and dark wood adorning the area. We were treated with the normal bread and butter combo to start they offered a variety of bread which was nice. I ordered a wedge salad, filet, and cheesecake, with mac & cheese and truffle fries to share. The portions were a bit smaller because we ordered off the restaurant week menu. The salad was a wedge with dressing, bacon, and tomatoes a very good offering. Our entres came in a timely manner after our starters, which included mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was cooked to perfection, easy to cut, and excellent taste. Truffle fries were some of the best that I had, definitely would order again. The highlight AGAIN was the extraordinary mac & cheese. Taste, consistency, cheesy taste, they perfected this dish and its the BEST mac & cheese that I have ever had at a restaurant I would go back for this alone! The cheesecake was also a smaller portion and very good. Combined with the friendly service that we received all night, this was an excellent experience!Nom: What a happy birthday meal for my handsome Om! He took me there once on my birthday a few years ago and then another time or two after that and I have really beautiful memories of those times. The highlight of their menu tho is the mac n cheese. You think I might be kidding but Im not! The dcor is standard upscale steakhousedark, with more dark and dark wood. Very nice tho dont get me wrong. I think it would be lovely to sit near the front for some light! They bring a large bread basket filled with a variety of breads which are very good and butter. Plain butterthank goodness Im almost fancy buttered out My wedge salad was very good! I swapped out blue cheese for ranch dressing and their ranch is very tasty. I ordered the tenderloin which was cooked exactly as I requested and it was very good as well. Caught me a little off guard because the sauce was very sweet and a little hot and spicy. Not typically my preference but this was very tasty and a nice change of pace! I had a spoon full of mashed potatoes and a truffle fry or two but the mac n cheese steals the show! I can make a meal of the mac n cheese. As a matter of fact that is exactly what I intend to do for Om and I this fallstop by grab two orders of mac n cheese and sit in front of the fireplace, eat mac n cheese and enjoy some TV time! There are a few Steakhouses that we prefer a bit over Capital Grille, but those are few AND our experience here was still excellent!

  • Fabulous Terrah

Great service but pricing a little high for the quality of food. I reallllly wanted to like this place. The atmosphere and service is wonderful but the actual food was less desirable especially for the pricing.

Very Expensive – High Expectations. Capital Grille is upper end pricing and really should have a five $$$$$ rating. A 10 oz filet is 40. A wedge is $16. After adding tax and tip, plan to drop $100 to $125 per person on your meal. A single bottle of wine will be $50 and runs upward into the $100’s from there. That type of money is hard to come by for most people. Capital Grille is a special event kind of place or a business meal picked up by a company. The decor of Capital Grille is sleek and modern with large pieces of iron artwork here and there. Etched glass adds an elite touch. The service is beyond good. High end restaurants can attract and pay the best servers in the business and it shows. They are so caring, attentive, yet invisible. It’s like they can read your mind on what you need just when you need it. They guide you through their menu and food choices like no other. They are that good. The food is good. With a party of 10, we got to try just about everything on the menu. I tried several types of appetizers, salads, main courses, sides and desserts. Everything was good. The filet was like butter meaning it was a high end prime piece of meat.Is Capital Grill exceptionally good, yes. Is the service untouchable, yes. Is it worth that kind of money, each person has to decide what they value.
