Just awful. The meat taste like it was blended into the nastiest food you've ever eaten. Truthfully, I don't think I've ever tasted a burger so bad. P…

One of the most original Burger Joint concepts I’ve seen, and a high-end mix of very complex flavors makes this a place I’d say you have to try for yourself. Forewarned…expect to pay as much as $20 per person, as the burgers are around $12 and add a side for $5-7, plus a drink. Three of us sampled the Cypress Grove (black angus beef, hand-cured bacon, royale mustard, frisee salad, soft egg, humboldt fog), the Texas Truffle (Kobe beef, bacon, 3-cheese macaroni, onion ring, truffle aioli), and the Scottish Salmon (salmon patty, red onion, avocado, remoulade, sweet pickle, rye Kaiser roll). All very filling, and as mentioned, very complex flavors. the Cypress Grove’s soft egg made it very messy, and the bitter frisee and strong royale mustard took away from the savory decadence of the egg and bacon. So too, did the remoulade take from the flavors of the salmon. Both were good, but feel a little short of expectations for such a burger. The favorite was the Texas Truffle, maybe it was the Kobe beef, maybe the combination of toppings, but it was a winner. We also got a mix of sides; Onion Rings, Fries and Tots. The onion rings had great crunch and flavor on the breading, but didn’t adhere well to the onion, so it was hard to get all the flavor together, tots were tots – but $5? The fries were good. Well above the average fry, and a good portion. Also, the menu and server specified that the burgers were served medium unless asked for otherwise. We asked for medium and they were well past that – not even a little pink in the center. I’ll go back, because I feel like there’s a lot of upside, but this meal, with 3 soft drinks was $66 before tip, so know this before going. It also didn’t satisfy a craving for a burger, because the flavors were so non-traditional. It’s a very unique place for dinner before a movie (next store), but not my first choice to take the family for burgers – which is probably not the target clientele anyway. diningoutdfw.com
