Stopped and tried the Big Daddy cause I heard it was the best burger on the planet. Not so… just a oversized burger with average seasoning. Place and staff look like their heyday was 20 years ago. Just about the most unenthusiastic, pained that you bothered them staff that Ive encountered in a long long time. I dont think anyone has done maintenance to the building in quite some time, dark, dingy, dated, smelly bathroom and all the deli cases are now just placed for menu item signs to be taped to. So disappointed as I heard this place being talked up so much. Guess that just how bad the food sucks in the area.

I think they could try a little harder and not rip people off, if your gonna charge $14.50 for a plate ,it should not look like you got it from an elementary school cafeteria
Gone way down hill…. I’ve lived in Port Lavaca my entire life, and have eaten at this restaurant too many times to count. They used to have wonderful Bar-b-que, burgers, and pies. Slowly, everything has slipped away. The wonderful pies were replaced with one sad looking pecan pie. The assortment of burger fixings consist of brown lettuce and sad looking sliced tomatoes and pickles that appear to have been sitting there too long. Coleslaw – brown. Potato salad – funky tasting. Burgers and chops – dry. Service is lacking – even when they’re not busy. When walking to the drink dispenser which is next to the kitchen you get a waft of marijuana smoke, which could be a big part of the problem. All in all very disappointed.
Misleading…. The name says Bar-B-Que (and the BBQ is good) – but I come here for the burger. Awesome flavor – build it yourself style. Service can be slow when they are busy – but worth the wait. Recommended!
Great burgers and love the retro interior! Barbecue sauce was tasty but ribs were disappointing.
Good food. TERRIBLE service.
