Om, Nom, and the kids tried Las Rocas in Princeton because it was close to where we were and wanted to try a restaurant in a small town. How was the experience?Om: We were seated immediately and I really liked the atmosphere very laid back, looked very clean. It took a while for to receive our water/drinks, and I also noticed a delay between receiving drinks and taking our order. Not sure why that would be since the restaurant was not very busy. Chips were ok at best, they were LARGE chips! Salsa was a bit too spicy for me so I avoided that. Our food came out in a timely manner once we did order, so they got that part right! I ordered a Tamaulipas platter, consisting of a tamale, enchilada, taco, rice & beans. I think that was everythingany ways the food was good, but to be honest it was just good. Had decent flavor but nothing memorable, taco was tasty, the tamales were ok, and I could say the same thing about the rice and beans. I will admit that the sopapilla’s were pretty good and would order them again. The waiter didnt seem friendly at times either. Just an average experience. Paid about $65 for two adults and three kids, so value was alright. If we were in Princeton again and were tired and wanted Tex-Mex, we might go here again – I WANT to like this place, love possible small town gems. Otherwise we would probably search somewhere else out.Nom: I was hopeful when we walked in since we were seated immediately but thena long pause with no waiter. Its not like they were busy so I was concerned especially when you have kids in tow. Now granted the boys are not that young but still faster would have been better. Once our drink order was placed there was yet another wait to order food. They did bring out two baskets of chips and salsa for everyone and the chips were the gigantic half tortilla sized chipsah ha! Perfect for dipping salsa, except this salsa was SPICY. So if you like your salsa spicy then score! I ordered the tacos al carbon with beef. They were quite large compared to some places so I was thinking YEAAAAAA but then I tried them and bigger is not always better. They were fine, totally average. As was the rice and beans. The kids liked their meals but it just wasnt memorable. Would we go back? Sure if we were in the area and didnt want to drive to McKinney then yes, but otherwise no.

Best Mexican Cuisine. Las Rocas has become our hands down favorite restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable, and the price is right. If you want genuine Mexican food without it being over priced or over spiced then make yourself at home at Las Rocas! But, DON’T TAKE MY SEAT!!!
This place is amazing. Try the steak fajita chimichanga…it is delicious. I wish they had more of a beer selection.
Excellent food and service! Can’t beat their happy hour prices and their house margarita is one of the best I’ve had. It’s a family owned, local business and the quality of the food and service are representative of that fact! Even if you don’t live in Princeton, it’s worth the drive!
