Oh my what a wonderful burger. This vaults into my top three burgers along with Rodeo Goat and Jungle Burger. It actually beats out Liberty, Holy Grail and Stackhouse for other top honors. This truly is a great burger. The meat is served in half pound portions and smashed prior to cooking. They cook with a charcoal flavoring. You can smell it in the air, and you DEFINITELY smell it as you lift the burger to your mouth. One bite and the flavors transfers instantly into some of the best cooked meat around. While it’s smashed prior to cooking, it’s still thick enough to be slightly pink in the middle and retain a moist texture. The juicy meat will stick out of all sides of the bun, but no grease will run down your hand.Service is interesting. It’s a little like the soup kitchen from Seinfeld. They are not polite, friendly or helpful. Know what you want and order it. They do not cook it until you order it. Our order took about 7-8 minutes before they called out our number. The burger is so good, it stands for itself. Wait your turn to get one of these wonderful gems.
Great Little Hamburger Place. This is a small hamburger place located on Arapaho just west of the public library. Look close as we found the signed a little hard to read, OLIVE BURGER. There is quite an extensive menu handing from the ceiling in front of the cash register where you will order. We ordered the Olive Burger which is a large piece of meat, tomato, lettuce and onion. There is mustard and tomato catsup on the tables. The meat is cooked over an open flame grill which you can see flash up occasionally. The burger was then cut in half and ready for you to pick up. Drinks are self service. The French fries looked really good however we did not order them. The restaurant seats 49 customers and is very clean. You need to toss your own trash and the staff will cleanup up behind you. Parking is right at the front door. The rest rooms were found to be clean. While we were eating an employee brought us a tray (about 15) stuffed olives with no charge. That we thought was a neat gesture on their part. The staff is very friendly and courteous. While some may look at this place as a hole in the wall It is actually a neat small hamburger place where you can get an almost gourmet hamburger for way less than some of the high priced joints are charging. You will not find a burger like these at the fast food places and at the gourmet hamburger places you will pay far more than $4.95 for a great burger. By the ay the menu board had many variations of the burger so you could make one to almost any choosing you desired.
Best burger in DFW. My husband and I have been on a search for the past year for the best burger in the DFW area and I think we found it at this unexpected spot. The meat was so amazing, I took the fixings off and ate just the patty. I surmise this is because the meat is Halal, or the Mediterranean version of Kosher. Amazing. Great sweet potato fries, as well. We will be back for sure!
These are half-pound burgers: come hungry but leave the skinny girlfriend/wife at home so she doesn’t try and ‘split one’ with you LOLI ordered the #10 House CheeseBurger, plus onion rings. The rings were hot, crispy, huge, a generous portion but oh so flavorless. Not even the ketchup could help them. The burger: not thick, but cooked a little too long (just shy of well done) and with too much pepper mixed in the patty. But the toppings and toasted bun complimented the patty and overall it was OK. This tastes like a burger you get outside the US in Asia or the Mediterranean, which is not a bad thing at all (the friendly attentive staff behind the counter are Iranian I believe).I probably would not come back though, the food was not bad but it did not work for me.
Excellent joint. Great family owned restaurant with delicious sandwiches. Courteous service and reasonable prices. I tried the Philly cheese today and loved it.
Great Burgers!. I like a good burger about once a week. I tried (several highly rated burger joints over the last few weeks (twisted root, del’s, liberty, jakes, mooyah’s, in and out, among others in north Dallas) and just wasn’t satisfied. In general, most all these burgers were not that flavorful. Mostly dry and without a good meaty flavor. It’s almost like they try to cover up this fact with their vast array of toppings that disguise the hamburger itself (except in and out, which is very basic). Then I tried Olive Burger based on other reviews. Wow, fantastic burger! Great mixture of charbroil flavor and juiciness. I’ve been several times now. I alternate between the mushroom swiss and the bacon cheese. I have also had the charbroiled chicken versions and they’re very good as well. The toppings and condiments are fresh and very good. I generally don’t like dressing on a burger, but the thousand island dressing they offer standard is a pretty good enhancement to their burgers. The buns are standard and the fries are just ok. I’d give them five stars if they would just cut up and fry fresh idaho potatoes on the spot to complement these fantastic burgers. You’ll notice a basket of steak knifes at the pickup counter. The burgers are so big, you need to cut it in two in order to eat it! So, do like the regulars and pick one up as you pickup your order. One of the best ‘over the counter’ burgers around. Highly recommended. (copied from my Yelp review)
