Spice lovers should flock to this traditional Sichan restaurant located in Richardson. Expansive menu featuring hot pot, noodle bowls, and notable dumplings are authentic and delicious. Dont come looking for General Tsos Chicken.SIGHT: Only Asian people dining in this cozy and dark restaurant located in a strip center in Chinatown.SOUND: No English here. Be prepared to point. Service is not that friendlyTOUCH: Clean enough.SMELL: Only when our food came out did my sinuses start to water. Specific food can be laden with Sichan peppercorns and red chilies. C11 Deep Fried Chicken with Red Chilies- Heavy handed peppercorns and dried chilies envelop the crispy, tender bits of boneless fried chicken. Delicious as long as the spice doesnt get to you.A7- Zhong Spicy dumpling. Homemade ish and filled with ground pork and green onions. Swimming in chili oil.T6- Sichan String Beans- delicious, wok tossed until tender and almost charred on the edges no sauce as to how it should be served but still tons of flavor with the bits of spicy pork. whiskandtell.com

Great food if you know what you like. Some things can be very authentic, so order within your comfort zone.
Chinese Worth the Trip!. Royal Sichuan was recommended to us by the Chinese parents of our granddaughter’s friend. They told us not to be intimidated by three things: the entire first page of the menu is in Chinese, the number of peppers on any given plate makes it appear red, and we would in all likelihood be the only round eyes in the establishment! They were right on all counts but we totally love it. It is equal to, if not better than, Wo Hops in NYC or Hunan Homes in San Francisco. It has become our favorite family eating establishment. They have large round tables easily accommodating grandparents through grandbabies, with a large turntable in the center to facilitate sharing. If you come as a smaller group, they have cozy tables in little cubbies on either side. When to come? Monday night is quick and peaceful. Saturday night, be prepared to wait to get in then enjoy the cacophony of language and laughter, the wonderful aromas from the kitchen and most of all, the food. Yes, while it is spicy, there are non-spicy choices. Our 4yr old Granddaughter loves the Crispy Fried Tofu but has to guard it to keep the rest of the table from devouring it. The Garlic Braised Eggplant and traditional Kung Pow Chicken are also mild(er) and wonderful. There are ample choices for vegetarians and carnivores as well. There are Frog Legs and Bull Frog, Duck, Lamb, Chicken, Beef, Fish with unpronounceable names, Blood Pots and other exotic items. The Crispy Fried Chicken is one of our family favorite dishes. The dumplings and cold Sichuan noodles make great appetizers. While almost none of the staff speaks English, they all are very attentive, quick and friendly. There is always at least one who can translate your desires; interpret the menu and successfully convey instructions to the chef. If you can describe what you want, they will find your item on the menu. They are BYOB but are located next door to a wonderful Asian Grocery who have a nice selection of Asian beer, wine and sake and the restaurant staff will supply an opener, corkscrew and/or glasses on request. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the experience is delightful, making it easy to leave a generous tip.See you there!
Great food. Price is reasonable, a wide variety of dishes, food is a bit greasy but all tastes great.
If you don’t like spicy don’t go here! If you do you’ve found your new fav restaurant! I was the only non Asian in there but they were friendly and food was awesome! Paid $44 for 2 people and left with more food than we ate.
