After living in Austin this barbecue is seriously disappointing. It passes for poor quality catering type food at best. I won’t be back, and don’t recommend to anyone who asks me about it.
Yuck!. I do not know how this place has such a high rating. The food takes like cafeteria food. The meat was fatty, the mac ‘n cheese was mushy and the tea tasted smokey. I will not be going back.

Consistently Good BBQ. I’ve been back to this location a number of times in the past couple years. Today I had lunch here with three work friends. I got a half pound plate with smoked chicken and sliced brisket. It was excellent. The chicken had wonderful flavor, and the brisket was tender and smoky.I got onion rings and mac and cheese for my sides. The rings were very good (especially when dipped in BBQ sauce).A great meal, good value. The iced tea was excellent, also. I like this place. billhensley.wordpress.com
Surprised with such a high rating?!?. I dont know how this place has stayed in business. The only thing I like here is the beans. My wife and I have decided the little place off Campbell and Nantucket is way better. Its take out only but its worthy of being called Texas BBQ.
If only. I’ve been to Sonny Bryan’s a few times, as I go to college about 3 minutes away from it. The food has never impressed me, it only passed as ok barbecue in my book, and the only reason I ever went back to it was because it is the only barbecue place in the area. I decided to go there again, and their prices had gone up for their poor excuse for barbecue, and I was completely ignored by the staff and waited about 10 minutes at the register to place my order before I decided it wasn’t worth it for their mediocre barbecue. Long story short, their food is mediocre at best, and their service is horrible. Maybe its just this location, but I was never impressed and will not go back.
The beans are like paste but OK flavor. The sauce is sweet and thick. The slaw is Ok and the pulled pork has great flavor and is tender. I’d go back.
