Too much fat!!. I ate lunch there today, and the food smelled extremely good. I ordered the rib plate, and it looked good also. When I started to eat the ribs, they were full of fat, The beans taste like white beans with tomato paste on them. I am from Mississippi, so I know good bbq. I have eaten from the best and Texas Smokehouse BBQ is not good at all. I should have gotten a refund.

Stopped by Texas Smokehouse BBQ one day while I was looking for something to eat on my lunch break. This place has the best smoked brisket that is soooo tender it will melt in your mouth, and the loaded bbq baked potatoes are to die for. OMG!! BEST BBQ I’VE EVER HAD.

Daily Special now $7.95. I noticed that one of the previous reviews as well as the image of the menu indicate that the daily special is $6.95. However, when you checkout, you are actually charged $7.95. This incorrect pricing is also on the website: http://www.tejassmokehouse.com/index2.html. Pros: 1) quick service2) lots of seating3) large helpingsCons: 1) Very few side items. Now I know that the website lists 15 different side orders but they seem to never have more than 5-7 available.2) Misleading website

Workingman’s BBQ. Good, well-cooked meat (better than some of the chains), serve-yourself sides, tangy, not-to-sweet sauce, reasonable prices, and friendly service. What more could you ask for from a BBQ joint?

This place is awesome!. I love BBQ. I really do. Ask any of my friends or my wife. They tire of listening to me go on and on about the last BBQ meal I had. I am a BBQ addict, and I pay attention to the most minute of details when I go and enjoy BBQ at various establishments. I have relished BBQ anywhere from our great state, to Florida, and as far west as Nevada. I can honestly say that Texas Smokehouse is by far among the best I have had!!In this day and age of severe restaurant competition, and an unbelievable array of choices on where to spend our dime, I place heavy emphasis on a few things when it comes to BBQ. Flavor and value. This place has outdone the majority of its’ competition in both areas.First of all, good BBQ doesn’t need sauce. What I mean by that is when you sample some of the meat that lays before you on the plate at any establishment, before adding any sauce to it, you should be able to detect the hours of work that went into creating the masterpiece of smoke-filled flavor, with the first few bites. The meat alone should be able to stand on its’ own merit and speak volumes. That is one of the many reasons why I love this place! The flavor is outstanding and is always consistent on everything I have ever eaten here! The brisket always shows the proper smoke ring, and not only can you taste the smoke flavor intensely on the brisket alone, everything else seems to have the same goodness coming thru as well. The hot links melt in your mouth with tenderness, and the ribs,my God..the ribsthey not only fall off the bone with the slightest bite, but the bark of the ribs is always giving you that complete and fulfilling flavor of smoke and rib meat delight, each and every time. Pulled pork is exceptional as well, as well as the turkey. The baked potatoes with the BBQ brisket on top are also not only completely filling, but satisfying as well. With that being said, I still eat my BBQ with sauce, and man, do I love their sauce! Not as thick as other places, but not as thin as it was years ago, the sauce has both a sweet and spicy taste to it. After the sweetness wears off, there is a little bit of heat to the sauce that comes thru, which I enjoy. The sides are really good. While they do not retain a signature status, as some places create individualistic recipes to compliment the meals, they still fare very well. My personal faves are the Cheese Potatoes and the Coleslaw, which is better than most places. Creamy, tangy, they supply a great contrast to the BBQ being served. Also, the sides are self-served. Nothing more annoying that being starved, and you have someone put a little scoop of your favorite sides on your plate at some BBQ places. Nope, not here. You can pile it all on!Second of all, Texas Smokehouse provides the area with exceptional BBQ with exceptional value. Not only are their menu prices much cheaper than other BBQ competitors, but their daily specials of $6.95, which includes two sides, toast, and a drink, favor well in the wallet area, and are even just as much, if not cheaper, than some of the more expensive combo meals at fast food sandwich or fried chicken places. My wife and I can go and eat a nice lunch there together and pay just as much as what I would be paying for a really expensive BBQ place’s 3 or 4 meat plate with a drink, for myself alone!! The two meat combo special on Fridays, for $6.95, can not be beat! Other areas that this place is famous for is their smoked turkeys that you can order for Thanksgiving from them, and your own meats that you can have them smoke for you, as well. We ordered a turkey this past Thanksgiving from Texas Smokehouse, and it was not only the best turkey we have ever had, it was much cheaper than Dickey’s BBQ and other places. The wifey is still talking about that turkey to this day! Also, there has been numerous times where we took them our own untrimmed brisket and ribs, and had them smoke them for us, for what I remember costing only 75 cents a pound, and we received comments from our friends who enjoyed the brisket with us, that it was among the best they had. The owner is very friendly and outgoing with the customers, as is the whole staff, and service has always been great. The hours are Monday thru Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Yes, they are not open for dinner, which some may consider that a strike against them, but I don’t. Hey, who would NOT want to be home at night, watching Law and Order: SVU?In all, one of the top BBQ places I have eaten at and have been enjoying immensely and consistently for years.03 Aug, 2010Absolutely one of the best BBQ places around!. The Luby’s of BBQ. This place on Arapaho in the Tech space district of Richardson is just okay. All the menu items are there, but they just lack flavor. Not bad , just theres so much better in Dallas, and particularly Richardson. They’ll really have to step up their game to compete in this market. Service is buffet line, and seating is ample, if not a little worse for wear. Parking is easy, and getting it to go is a breeze. Lunch or dinner here will be hot & fast, but I’m afraid thats about all they have to offer. Look around, I think you can find better.
