I dont usually bother reviewing restaurants. If I don’t like them, I just don’t go back. We just got back from Bombay Grill and have come back completely disgusted. The owner is rude, arrogant and was completely unprofessional. This seems to be a family run business, the kids wait tables and the mom cooks inside. They are all fine. The dad/owner is a nut job. He told us flat out that he doesn’t want Indian customers. Great, good luck running an Indian restaurant! He completely disparaged an Indian family of 6 who sat down for dinner and told them to get out. He made a huge scene in the restaurant and scared our kids. All because that family asked a few questions about portion sizes. He said disparaging things about our friends who recommended the restaurant to us! Told us we didn’t know how to raise our kids because they were on the cell phone and basically said dont bother, I’ll tell you what you should eat! I feel sorry for his kids who were working hard and trying to keep things in control, cringing every time the owner did or said something unprofessional. We had gone to celebrate a birthday and everyone came back very unhappy and the kids were so upset. I’ll put up with eccentric restaurant owners that serve great food, this guy doesn’t. The owner is unprofessional and a bigot. I know desis can be difficult customers. But this owner is an @$$. We paid our bill, said thank you and left.
First Time Tonight. We’ve been trying to expose our kids to different types of foods lately and decided Indian was next on the list. We live in Katy and the Indian restaurant choices are a little lackluster. After some research and based on reviews we read we decided to make the drive and go to Bombay Grill in Richmond. Boy, we are so glad we did! The place is unassuming, tucked in the middle of a strip mall. Its tiny, maybe 10 tables. But, you know what, it was like being in a charming couple’s home. They tell you straight up that it takes a while to get your food, be prepared to wait, but when it comes out and you taste it you will understand the care in preparing each and every dish. Also, each dish they want to get right for your palate, so they will ask (and suggest) spice level. We love it spicy, which they accommodated but knew our kids were new to the spice world. Theirs still had a kick to let you know you are still eating Indian food, but not enough to scare them off. We all absolutely LOVED our dishes! Our youngest said she wants to go to Bombay Grill for her birthday dinner. Now that’s a compliment in this family. BTW, they do have a small selection of beer and wine.
Amazing. I’ve been going here for a couple years. I’ve never had any Indian food that compares to this. Sometimes the service is slow, even though there aren’t many tables… but that’s because they cook to order and it’s very fresh. Very consistent, I’ve never had a bad dish here, it’s all great. You won’t be dissapointed.
