Stop whining! Dove Creek is a great place! We only eat breakfast there, and yes, sometimes the service isn’t great, and sometimes they are inconsistent, but they are friendly and overall have good food! You might have had one bad experience (and we have also) but we have given them another chance and they have proved themselves
If only it were all made from scratch…. With the perfect location on 377 what a great place to capture people from all over United States when they happen to pass through Roanoke Texas.is a crying shame that the food is not really made from scratch nor is the menu anything to write home about.if only restaurants and realize what an impact they have and how much money they can make by making a statement not only in there decor and their hospitality but the amazing flavors of their food.I personally would rather pay a little bit more for breakfast lunch and dinner to know that there is consistency everytime I eat at a place and that I can count on my friends and family having the same experience when I go out of my way to recommend a place to them.,$o many restaurants try to cut corners and save money and not think about flavor and texture, cutting corners like not using real butter real homemade jam and real milk just cheapens the dining experience that makes you wish you would have stayed home and cooked it yourself. and let’s talk coffee how can a breakfast cafe or diner not have the best coffee in Texas. Using these companies that process bags of cheap coffee they are not rich in neither aroma or flavor just a waste of everybody’s time and money horrible way to start your day cup of coffee. Then there’s biscuits so many breakfast restaurants have horrible biscuits usually too flat too hard too soft too doughy often burn no flavor very dense are very wet but Dove Creek actually happens to have on most occasions very good biscuits.there are days so that they are doughy on the inside and too hard on the outside, another area of consistency that should be ironed out.when they’re good they’re about 5 inches tall you bite into them and they bounce back there fluffy and just golden brown on top just golden brown on bottom. On a good day their biscuits are pretty amazing about 5 inches tall you bite into them and they bouce back. If they could make this happen consistently every day people would drive from everywhete just to have biscuits and homemade jam. Why they use those cheap little packets of Kraft and Smuckers grape and strawberry flavor only I will never know. When you have a kitchen full of utensils and ingredients why not use them and whip things up that will make people talk about your restaurant. why not go the extra mile to make people love your restaurant and spread the word to want to come back over and over and over again.
Food and Service is Terrible. Having gone there with reservasions for food and entertainment expecting a great Friday night out, we left very disappointed. The various dishes that we ate were some of the worst in taste. The chicken fried steak was tough. Mashed potatoes tasted from the box, french fries were soggy, toast was nearly burnt. We didn,t receive several sides that were included with the two additional side for the plates ordered and had to ask for them. Waitresses were unfreindly and seemed as though it was a hassle to accomodate thier patrons not only with us but with people near us. The only thing good about the night was the family band that was singing, they were entergetic and had great harmonies grabbing our holding our attention the entire evening. They were so good I almost forgot about the mediocre food and service. Won’t return. Don;t waste your money.
Basic Sit-Down Breakfast Place in Roanoke. We had breakfast here when we were visiting family. It is in a convenient location on a busy thoroughfare. This is the only sit-down breakfast place that we found near downtown Roanoke that wasnt Mexican or fast food. It was ok. The Texas hash is very tasty. The breakfast taquitos are what I call small flour breakfast tacos and were very good for a small breakfast. A serving of taquitos included 2 taquitos. The biscuits are not traditional. They are more cakey than flakey, though they have a giant rise. I was disappointed in my omelet that was more like a thin sheet of egg folded over a bunch of filling that was unevenly cut. I did enjoy their sweat tea, which tasted very fresh. The service was also good.
This place takes you back to the 1960s and not in a good way!. After living in Roanoke for the past 5 years my family and I decided to give Dove Creek to try. Initially everything seemed okay but shortly after we ordered our coffee and juice for the breakfast and we ordered I started to notice things. The most major of them was 3 other families getting served before us when we ordered before they arrived. The next thing was that I didn’t seem to command the attention in order to keep my coffee and my kids drinks refilled. I gave up on getting refills because I figured that maybe the waiter was just too busy so instead I just asked for a glass of water. The water was brought to me in a dirty cup and I’m not talking about a dirty cup that maybe had a spot missed during the dishwashing process. This cup look greasy and had what looked to be mayo on the inside wall of it. So I sent that back and just finished my breakfast without a beverage. The last thing that happened that really upset me and made me say that I will never visit this place again came at the register. When my family was finished eating there was a line at the register I sat at my table until the line came down to maybe 2 people when I stood in line I noticed how nice the owner was. As each customer came to the register to pay she had a pleasant voice and asked them how their meal was in one case she even played with a patrons child while closing them out. When I stepped to the register you would think that she didn’t see me mind you I’m 6 foot 7 260 pounds. I stood there while she continued to do other things and patiently waited until she was finished once she was finished I handed her my receipt so that I could pay and in my opinion in an angry voice the only thing she asked me was how much of a tip did I want to leave on my card. I handed her my card she swiped it and put it back on the counter. I tried to hand her the receipt that I signed she acted busy until I put it down on the counter. For me this type of treatment was obvious as to what I was dealing with but I know that these types of individuals are waiting for a reaction from me so I will not give them the satisfaction. I simply went back to my table told my wife that we are never coming back here again and exited the building. I will however make sure that I post my story to every restaurant website that I can find!T.J. FORD
New Cook???. I think they bought and I mean bought a new cook from a second hand store. The food level has gone to dirt. About the only thing you can trust is the Ice Tea and once in a while the breakfast.
Reminds me of Jim’s in Bethany, OK, but 5x better! Love the down home feel and breakfast was not overly greasy as you find in many places. Nice staff!
