Really loved Hey Sugar Candy Store!!! I love how they have old time candy and sodas and the movies were fun to watch while eating ice cream with the kids. The coolest thing is the summer movies they offer on the lawn area next door to the candy store. What a fun place!!!

Wonderful Time Warp Experience. This quaint little store is just a joy to walk around. The wrap around porch starts the throw-back-in-time experience. Inside there is bin just as you walk through the doors full of candy from your childhood (laffy taffy, slow pokes, and more). All around the store are bins and jars of treats. Their selection of old time soda is cool. Many of them use pure cane sugar as the sweetener. We did not get a soda, but we did try the ice cream. It was so nice sitting outside eating our ice cream watching families walk back and forth. Great place.

Old Is New. Lots and lots of all types of sweets whether it be sodas, chocolates, penny candy, gummies, old fashioned candy, popcorn or even ice-cream. I easily spent a half an hour here. To see everything closely it could take a good hour. They have lots of other non-candy items too T-shirts, ballcaps and even animal masks. Everything is good natured fun so bring the kids. I bought some ginger candy, some gummie items, Charms sweet/sour suckers and the old Charms packaged candy. This fun doesn’t come cheap though. Much of the loose candy is almost $10.00 a pound. Sodas are $2.50+ each. Kids will go crazy, your spouse will go crazy, you will go crazy, and when you get your receipt you will know that you WENT crazy in there. The cute old-fashioned home with the brightly painted outdoor chairs, like those your parents and grandparents had beckons you to enter. Once you do you are trapped. You might as well give up and enjoy because you will be bombarded with all sorts of old timey candy and concoctions, may of which I never heard of. They do have Slo-Poke and Black Cow suckers, peanut clusters, Charm pops and tons and tons of different flavored gummies. Want an ice cream cone? They have that. Want fine chocolates? They have that too. From flavored popcorn to bubble gum cigars they have it all. There was even some Elvis branded candy. One of many fun stores to visit while hitting the streets around Roanoke. Just save enough money to be able to purchase some gas to get home.

Hey Sugar!. We, at Hey Sugar wanted to apologize for any poor experience anyone has ever experienced in our store. Customer service is very important to us. We have many local high school kids employed in our store. Although we try very hard to train them to give excellent service, it does not always happen as they are learning. Once again, we apologize and will use any negative reviews as a training tool.We also strive to keep our prices at or below all candy stores in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. We cannot compete with big box stores as their retail price is generally lower than our distributor’s price. Bulk candy is priced by the quarter pound because rarely does a person by a full pound of bulk candy, just makes the math easier for kids. We have scales placed around the store so kids can weigh the candy themselves and see how much they are spending. We are sorry for any confusion this has caused or disappointment in our store. Being a new business we had some growing pains with our computer system and register. We are so excited to have all the quirks worked out and the system running much smoother and at greater speed. We have also added a second register for the crazy busy weekend nights. We take everyone’s opinions seriously and appreciate them. We hope you give us another chance if you have had a not so great experience and find our current staff up to par with your expectations. We love what we do at Hey Sugar and strive to be the best candy store in the DFW metroplex.

Pretty but far from Perfect. I fully agree w Mr Wagner (see review below). Many employees here lack the skills to be in the public service environment. I ordered an ice cream to go (pint) and it was barely more than 1/2 full. The girl @ register seemed shocked upon seeing this and went to get it filled. However, upon return she had been informed by her ‘manager’ (I’d say he was 20 tops) that this was plenty full by his standards. The prices ARE RIDICULOUS as previously noted. First of all..most stores do price bulk by the POUND not the 1/2 pound. In my opinion, the pricing by the 1/2 pound is simply to throw off those who are not paying attention. Unless you are truly starving for (sometimes stale) gummies..then head over to Central Market. At least the pricing is up front.Lastly, the last time we went in here..the LINE TOOK FOREVER and there was only one line for both candy and ice cream. Essentially, you would wait for persons to weigh 2-10 bags of candy while another 6 people had ice cream cones dripping. Their is a perfectly nice counter for ice cream..add a register. Also, take away the lap tray on stilts that rests precariously in the line of people–everyone and I mean everyone knocked it onto the floor.I hope this place can make improvements. We visited when it first opened and It was really lovely. The owner was there and it seemed very promising.
