Fantastic food and staff. Been there a dozen times. Never had a meal o wouldnt order again. Wait staff is friendly and helpful. My favorite restaurant in Rockwall for sure, maybe in Texas.
Last Thursday my husband and I went out for a much needed date night! We wanted to go somewhere close to home because I was exhausted! Being 18 weeks pregnant and needing to take care of all the kids and your husband (he just had elbow surgery) is exhausting! I think if we would have traveled more than 10 minutes I would have fallen asleep on the way!We decided to try Charlies Burgers and Street Tacos, which is certainly becoming a local Rockwall favorite! Located in Downtown Rockwall it is a perfect location for Date Night. Charlies is closed on Mondays, but open from 4pm-10pm Tuesday-Thursday and opens for lunch Friday through Sunday (11:00am-10:00pm and closes at 9pm on Sundays). As we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff welcoming us to Charlies! Instantly we felt at home. We were sat and our waitress told us all about the specials of the day! We even got the opportunity to meet one of the owners, Wayne! After looking over the menu we didnt know what to order because everything sounded so good! So we decided to try a little of everything because thats what you do when you are pregnant and cant decide! We started off the night with Chorizo Stuffed Jalapeos. These were so amazing! And by me saying that it does not give them enough credit! We then moved on to a Charlie Burger, and a selection of tacos. We tried the pulled pork tacos, the Adobe rubbed steak tacos, the smoked brisket taco, and the special of the day: the mahi-mahi fried tacos! (Rumor has it these will soon be a staple on the menu) I sure hope so because I cant wait to go back and eat them! We also had the grilled Baby Wedge Salad as well as the French Fries. All the food at Charlies is served a la carte, which is perfect because it allows you to try a variety of different things! My husband and I both agree that the tacos were some of the best ones we have ever had! You can tell that they hand roll their tortillas daily! Favorites being: the mahi-mahi tacos, the pulled pork as well as the brisket, but with that being said they all were great and we would be super excited to go back and eat all of them again. The burger was moist and delicious. They grind their meat daily in the restaurant for these burgers. I have never had a burger quite like that one before. When I am craving a burger this will definitely be where I go! Lets pray its not a Monday when this happens! If you are feeling like a salad, the grilled baby wedge is very filling and equally delicious! If this is your first time at Charlies be sure to try a taco with it as well because they are that good!
Small place with big flavor. The burgers are good but the tacos have my heart. Brisket taco on flour tortilla and pork tacos on a corn tortilla. And the roasted chicken on a flour tortilla isn’t bad either. Get there early or be prepared to wait a few minutes. There’s also music on San Jacinto street nearby on the weekends and a small crowd usually gathers after dinner. Charlie’s is a great addition to an already revamped Rockwall downtown square. If only it was open for lunch! travelandtable.com
This is a great little neighborhood hang out right on the Rockwall Square. We started with the chorizo stuffed jalapeos wrapped in bacon. They sat on top of a delicious salad of mixed greens. We tried the burgers which were wonderful. They make them with ground brisket. The fries were okay but the onion rings were amazing. Next time we will have to try the street tacos. The servers were wonderfully helpful and friendly. They welcome everyone who enters the restaurant. We will definitely return.
