Very good food and service. They brought us two fresh baked hot rolls with butter. We started with the pirogue appetizer which was smothered in grilled onions and bacon. I had a cup of the lobster bisque soup which was very creamy and delicious. Then, I had the honey butter chicken for an entree. It was a delicious fried and breaded chicken breast served over mashed potatoes and fresh sauted spinach. It also came with some fresh off the cob buttery corn and a biscuit. My husband had the tenderloin steak Diane which was smothered in mushrooms and served with mashed potatoes. He ordered it medium rare and it was succulent. Even though we were stuffed and I saved some of my meal as leftovers, the waiter convinced us to try the chocolate mousse cake. It had layers of cake and mouse with a chocolate sauce and a generous portion of fresh raspberries and fresh whipped cream. Yum. Everything was wonderful. I recommend it. They also said they have a very nice breakfast menu. So, we will have to return for breakfast sometime.
The food was pretty decent, a little pricey it seemed for the amount of food we got. Would of liked a bigger portion. Had the brunch and after waiting 10 minutes for a cup of coffee, ordered and then waited a decent amount of time for the food and check. The service overall was very subpar- drinks never refilled and $30 for brunch for 2. Which again I don’t mind paying that considering we both got coffee, but the food portion just wasn’t big enough for me. Overall I don’t mind this place.. Just set aside an hour or two and make sure you’re not in a hurry.
Was a great place to eat, not anymore!!!!. I have eaten at the Fatted Calf every week since I moved to Rockwall in May 2014. I loved the breakfast, the waffles were awesome!!!!!!The staff was great. Saddly the food the last 4 times ( yes I gave them 4 more times) has been over cooked, my biscuit ( should I call it a rock), the waffles were hard and burnt at times, service was the worst in my life. Does anyone ever check on the staff?? Check on food quality?????????????Each time my drink was empty and never refilled. I even asked several times and they left without refilling. The last visit, My husband and I were two of maybe 6 people in the restaurant. (NOT BUSY). This was my favorite restaurant in the beginning and a special treat for my husband and I to eat at weekly. Not anymore. I will not go back. Really sad…………………………!
I’m so disappointed. I’ve been there several times over the last few years and really enjoyed it. The last two times, the service has been horrible. The waiter forgot to turn in our order time before last and possibly again the last time. The people who were seated after us got their food first and we didn’t have a difficult order. One of our members asked for crispy bacon and the bacon was served raw. The eggs were undercooked on both of my last visits. I love to support local places but they really need to train their staff and cooks better. travelandtable.com
Birthday Dinner. Came to the Fatted Calf for my wife’s birthday and we were not let down. We started with a couple adult beverages and the fried green tomatoes that were right on point including the pimento cheese, deviled ham, and avocado ranch that accompanied. Afterward she ordered the special off the board Idaho Trout, I ordered the Crab Cakes and again we were not let down as both the Trout and Crab Cakes were outstandingly well prepared and beautifully plated too boot. Service was very attentive without being over bearing. I recommend this spot to anybody looking for a great dining experience.
Breakfast!. Breakfast is yummy! Our favorite order is the Vital Farm Eggs with a single pancake for sharing. Great sausage and bacon. Add The Fatted Calf to you breakfast options.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! GREAT morning coffee! (: I had The Alamo which was a biscuit with fried egg sausage and gravy on top! Waffles r FLUFFY! And I would HIGHLY recommend!
