Have only been here once, for lunch. Was trying to get a quick bite but not exactly in a rush. Which was a good thing. Doesn’t look like this would be a good choice for a quick bite.I had the burger with Swiss cheese. I asked the burger to be done rare and it was. Big plus. The fries weren’t exactly steak fries but close enough. Another plus. The service, while a bit on the flow side, was pretty attentive. With a lemonade the bill came to about $13. Another $3 for tip. A bit high for regular lunch but very much worth it.Will have to come back with friends do that I can try a few other things.

In college, LongHorn’s was the best place in town.I went to college in a small town. While it’s not bad by any stretch, it’s far away from my stomping grounds, and too close to equally satisfying options. When I’m home in Georgia and the options for reasonably priced steaks are few, I love me a Flo’s Filet. And the service is great no matter where you are. But here in Austin, I find myself awash with better options at similar prices. Nothing about LongHorn sets it apart (which is ironic, so close to the UT Longhorns). It’s not bad, and if someone invited me there or gave me a gift card to get a steak there, I would take them up on it. If they ran a special item that I just had to have, I’d go give it a try. But the only times I went there were when I had a gift card, simply because there are just better options locally for steaks when that’s all you want.If you ARE going to go, though, make sure to get the bread. That stuff is excellent. The food is too, but just not as excellent as almost all the other steak places in Austin.
